Is my Graphics cartd good enough for VR ?

I want to buy a HTC Vive or Occulus for the VR content here. My graphic card is 'GTX 980 Ti' but after a lot of googling I still dont know if it is good enough to use a VR headset... is it better than a '1060' ? which seems the minimum. Thanks

I think your 980-ti is good enough for iStripper VR.
It May not be Good enough for todays high end VR gaming set on Max setting.
but will handle most games with Settings adjustments.

If looking at headsets check out the G2 Reverb. It just launched and likely will have a much longer lifespan ahead of itself. That way when you do eventually upgrade your GPU you can still use the headset.

If you have Steam on PC it has a VR checker utility that will tell you if your PC is good enough in all areas.
I just bought an Oculus Quest 2 which has on board memory and processing. It is wireless and doesn't need any room sensors. The reason I bought it is that you can also stream to it wirelessly from your PC so the PC does the grunt work and you get to play the titles without any dangling wires. It also costs a whole lot less than the wired versions.
So if you get a Quest 2 and copy the VR files to it you can play them straight from the unit.

You don't even have to copy over files to the Quest or Quest 2. You can go directly to the istripper website using the built in Oculus web browser and downoad all the vr shows you bought directly to the headset no pc required. I have an old crappy galaxy s7edge with a 2016 gear vr and that's how I download the vr shows. it runs all the vr shows without a hitch at 1440p res a quest 2 will run at 2160p

You should try the regular non vr shows in VR also using something like virtual desktop. It is a great experience seeing the regular shows at life size.

The only thing with Quest 2 is realize you are buying in to a locked down Facebook Ecosystem that they could turn off access to Steam if they chose to. Not saying they would. I am not here to say its bad to buy a Quest either.

Quest 2 is not in the same tier of headset quality as the G2 Reverb so there is a reason why it costs more.

Quest 2 vs G2 Reverb
Pixel Per Eye: 1832x1920 vs 2160x2160
Refresh Rate: 72hz (90 in future) vs 90hz
Weight: 503 grams vs 550 grams
Battery: 2-3 Hours vs No Batter (wired)
FOV: 90 horizontal / 110 vertical degrees vs 98 horizontal / 112 vertical degrees
IDP: 3 positions (58mm, 63mm, 68mm) vs slider adjustable (60mm to 68mm)

Tracking is going to be a little more personal but I do know direct light is not a friend of the G2 so avoiding direct sunlight or open lamps is suggested. Quest 2 I haven't come across much on the tracking. One thing with the G2 though is that you can choose to migrate to another option for tracking long term if you wanted with Quest you are stuck with its tracking only.

Yeah, it's too bad they did that. I think Quest 2 sales would ***** if they shut off Steam, so that might not be a wise choice for them. Maybe the antitrust lawsuit against Facebook will change that.

That's true, but it doesn't include that Quest 2 can be used wired or wireless. Once people experience wireless, it's hard to go back to wired. Wireless also means it can be used anywhere. PC VR wireless at 90 hz can be done today using Virtual Desktop.

The Quest 2 seems to be the headset of choice right now with many VR YouTubers, the freedom of being wireless and the versatility is a big reason.

Part of that is that its available. Its going to be one of the best selling headsets out there for sure.

Once people experience wireless, it's hard to go back to wired.

I think the big difference is resolution IMO. I would also say Wireless is possibly going to have a potential of a slight delay although I haven't looked enough in to it. Best thing is that you likely can get a Quest 2 from a normal retailer where you have the ability to return the headset if you don't like it.

Maybe the antitrust lawsuit against Facebook will change that.

So I don't think they would turn it off but I also don't think its a requirement for Facebook to support or allow access to Steam or other stores. Same reason Apple is not ***** to have Google Play Store on its deviecs.

You could also get a very cheap windows MR headset off ebay. That will work just fine for Istripper VR and also for steam games. You can find them on ebay starting at around 100 bucks for pre owned units. FOV around 105 res 1440 per eye ot you could get the Samsung odessy plus which has 1600 X 1440 per eye the samsung also has an anti screen door layer that helps to minimize the screen door effect. And unlike the quest it uses OLED screen that give you better color reproduction and true blacks so that video content really pops. Great for istripper VR
