I've developed a database of iStripper cards and clips. Although I have never seen a card XML file in metric units, I thought I had the logic needed to handle that. I assumed weight would be kg, height cm, and stats mm. It seems that at least a few cards have stats in cm. I'm fixing that now, but could some of you confirm that cm is the right unit of measure for bust, waist, and hips?

Does anyone have a card with height, weight, and stats expressed in metric units? How old is that card? I've discovered that cards older than about 4 years have XML files with a slightly different format. All the recent cards I've heard of from people in Europe seem to have English units in the XML files. I wonder if older cards were all metric.

I can confirm, that cm would be the best unit for vital stats.

In my Showroom, you can preview the dimensions in metric units. Just move the mouse pointer over the imperial units and wait for a moment. The metric units will be shown (printscreen). It works for height, weight and vital stats.

I have checked several XML files of the old cards from the "a" serie and all of them have imperial units. For now, I haven't found any metric units.

The specifications in the XML files are in imperial units.
These data are converted by the software. The system in which the data is displayed depends on the settings in Windows or Mac.

I checked the cards of Divine and Camilla.
Again, the information is specified in imperial units in the XML files.

The cards of Camilla since 2011 and Divine since 2012 are no longer available.

###

In some cards, it may be possible that the conversion was done twice.

I found the following information after downloading of one card in an XML file.
Bust size: 13
Waist size: 9.8
Hips size: 13

After updating this card, the following information can now be found in the XML file.
Bust size: 34
Waist size: 25
Hips size: 33

I misspoke in my original message. My logic allowed for height in meters, not cm as an alternative to feet and inches. My logic allowed for cm as an alternative to inches for bust, waist, and hips, but what @spiderman1804 and another beta tester found doesn't seem to be metric units at all. 9.8 cm would be 3.9 inches and 9.8 dm would be 38.6 inches.

I just calculated the ratio used on those three numbers. It appears that Totem used the wrong conversion factor. They started with inches but used cm to inch factor of 0.3937 thinking they were starting with cm!

Please keep in mind that Totem's team is based in Paris (France).
In France, the metric system is used.

I think as follows:
The data in the database is converted from the metric data (meters, centimeters, kilograms) to the non-metric data (feet, inches, pound) for the XML files and stored there.

###

Again.
In some cards, it may be possible that the conversion was done twice.
Sometimes people make mistakes.

Here card f0149.

I found the following information after downloading of one card in an XML file.
(Download date: May 15, 2016)
Bust size: 13 inch
Waist size: 9.8 inch
Hips size: 13 inch

After updating this card, the following information can now be found in the XML file.
(Update date: June 7, 2018)
Bust size: 34 inch
Waist size: 25 inch
Hips size: 33 inch

In iStripper displayed (Location is Germany):
Bust size: 86 cm
Waist size: 64 cm
Hips size: 84 cm

Me too, the GUI gives me all measurements in metric.

@SpaveInvader, @stefnev1, you have metric measurements in the GUI, because you have it set in your system's settings. Just like @Spiderman1804 wrote:

The system in which the data is displayed depends on the settings in Windows or Mac.

Try to change those settings in Start / Control Panel / Region (or "Change date, time or number formats") / Formats (tab) / Additional Settings... / Measurement system. Set it to "U.S." and you will see that all the stats, weights and heights in the GUI are in imperial units.

Because Totem is in France, I was surprised to discover that the XML files used English units. Then I thought it was that way only for US and British users. Now I understand its that way for everyone. As an engineer, I would have preferred them to keep the XML file in metric units.

It may be just that the Modeling industry uses English units as the standard.
So the Stats in the XML, would be what they get on the Casting / work contracts.
???

there of lots of things that Logically don't make sense.
in Fact I find most things in the world are very illogical.

Quite possible.

Re: I find most things in the world are very illogical.

LOL Human decision-making involves so much more than logic and an engineering assessment. Mr. Spock would not be comfortable with us.

The GUI features metric units for me as well, regardless of language setting. The website features imperial units when language is set to English, but if langueage setting on the website is changed to say German, then the units on the website are changed to metric.

At All...
This topic was about the Units Stored in your Data Folders XML file.
NOT what is displayed in the GUI or the Web Site.

When a 3rd party Dev, tries to read the XML files to Collect the Models Stats...
Many of them are in Imperial Units, and a Rare Few of them are in Metric. and One or Two are in a Unit that
Must have been a Mistake.

So What the OP was trying to Find out.

Is it Isolated to just a handful of cards.
Are everyone's XML files the Same.
or is it Isolated to only Older cards that haven't been updated.

Hopefully there are enough proper answers given that
a Dev, can create the programming Logic to Handle all possible cases with out the Software blowing up.

GUI details display.
As best that I can tell. The GUI is no longer relying on the data in the XML files.
The XML file Might be a duplicate of the data file that the GUI is using.

But I've made some tests by Changing the Content of an XML file, and the changes do NOT
show up in the GUI.

That tells me that the data the GUI is Displaying is coming from a different source.

You're right. It comes from the staticProperties.cds file (in the data folder).

I know I can change whether metic, US or UK measurement units are used by changing my system settings, but that will affect all other programmes. I am a Brit living in Germany and for most purposes the programes I run on this system need to use metric units, but for iStripper I would prefer UK measurements.

I wish that Totem would provide an iStripper specific setting to control this aspect of the program.
