I know there’s been a lot of discussion on this topic but I wanted to share my findings with fellow VG users. Attached are 3 screen shots I captured of before (old) and after (new) updating Jessica Joy's card # 1430. My resolution is 1920px by 1080px, zoom is set in software to 100% full size with "Reduce clips to screen res.." unchecked.

I'm very disappointed to point out that the update has reduced the height of the model standing at 100% therefore a LOSS of PIXEL DATA. The software is now upscaling lower resolution video rather than downscaling. When I boost the zoom to fit my screen the clips now look very pixelated. This is no longer FULL HD, the standing height of the model is 816 pixels (republished) vs 1080 pixels (original) at 100%.

I'm also disappointed to see that new cards being released Mia Sollis # 1505, Nici # 1512 & 1511, Viola # 1517, all have this reduction in resolution. The standing clips of these cards do not reach the top of my 1080p screen at 100%, again, no longer FULL HD.

Beware users purchasing newer cards or updating republished cards, the video quality is no longer the same. I'm not seeing any benefits here of republishing these newer cards or the new "standard" for 1080p with reduced resolution for upcoming cards.

@Kutta: i can understand your frustration even if for my setting the new files are exactly the right height at 100%
I think what some might easily forget is that they have to have one size for all models no matter if they are 1,50 m or 1,90 m tall.
And they should not be cut off if they put their hands into the air.
So if on your screenshot the model would almost touch the top of the screen in that pose everything that goes higher than that would be cut off.
So i do believe Totem when they say that the new clips are 1080p even if they don't reach the top of the screen.
To find out how large the clips really are i did the following.
I used a pole dance clip for reference and in small mode as the pole is not extended to the top of the screen then.
Its approx. 615 px high at 60%
so the rest ist just a calculation.
615 / 60 * 100 = 1025p for 100 % and thats close to 1080p
The model (in this case Vanda Lust) is approx 500p tall so same calculation makes her 833 p tall at 100%

The second screenshot shows one of the 'old' 1080p shows again pole small mode 60%
There the pole is about 900p tall which make it 1500p tall at 100%
The model is 670p tall which would make her 1115p tall at 100%.

The last screenshot shows that same old show in the newest software version.
Again a pole clip at 60% but now the pole is only 500p tall.
So with the newest version of the software the republishing actually makes them taller again.

Also the newest version of the software is already scaling the 'old' 1080p shows down. So if you use the newest version there is no point in not updating these shows.

Totem will start to release 3K clips in the near Future.
(Note the First Batch of 120 released 1080p cards, Actually Had the 3K size Standing Clips)

If you want to keep these, then make a backup copy of them Before you Update your cards.

And Just because the cards receive an Update, you DO NOT have to update them. They will still play if you don't update them.

All of the previous 120 released cards will get reprocessed to this New Format.

The Ruling is a fine line.. If you Recorded the material in 1080 horizontal lines or Above, you can Call it "Full HD" even if it's been resized to fit your Screen. but then you should provide a message, that this has been resized or Adjusted to fit your screen.

Totem is in the difficult position that:
1.) They Do not Know How big your Task bar is set to ahead of time.
2.) With the Camera set at a fixed Field of View, to record an Average Height model, then A shorter model will Not Fit to the top of the screen, but A Taller model might Bump or Exceed the top of the screen.

Starting with 1080p
Given Two Icons of Task bar Height is about 80px. That Leaves room for Max Height of 1000px.
I would most likely try to make the Average model Height about 900px.
So shorter models would be in the 800px size and a taller model would be 1000px

I think that is a good choice of 1080p clip size..
but that is my thoughts...

Also,
When you Watch a Full HD movie at the cinema or on TV, the Actors or Actress do not bang there heads on top of the Screen, there are in the field of View, but around them is background Scenery. They Take up 70% to 90% of the screen Height..

Next time you watch a Movie, make note where the top of their heads are..

@kutta Keep in mind model do raise their hands, so the number of lines goes from their feet to about a quarter of their size over their heads. You'll get more lines soon with the release of 3K clips, we've done the post-production on them, but need to upgrades a bunch of servers to be able to host them now given their sizes.

You Forgot the most Important part.. No on the Fly Size reduction..

Many of Us ( Myself included ) has slightly older computers.
Our Screens are in the Height Range of 800px Resolution, but More Important is our Processor is Single core, maybe dual core, and slow by today's standards.

We represent about 70% of the Current Market today.

We desire to still have the 720p product that Does Not Need any On-The-Fly size adjustments to make it fit our screens.

Many Members ask for High Resolution high Bit Count.
but for Us, Without the Lower Resolution, Standard Bit count cards,
The 70% of us, wouldn't be able to enjoy VG on our computers.

Thank you Totem for giving Us the choice of 720p without on-the-fly reduction.

New Cards - Current Production - Standing Clips are NO LONGER in the Same Proportion as Sitting Clips.

REX made this announcement, That All new Encoding will go back to the Proportions of the Earlier 720p cards.

Current 1080p Standing clips are 800px to 900px in height.
