Overrating Models?

I never planned on posting, but there's been a nagging issue that I thought I'd toss out there and see how it goes.

It's has to do with the overabundance of 9's and 10's given to models. Every time I look at a new model now, I have to pick through the comments and try to read between the lines to determine whether or not they're something I won't eventually turn off or delete...especially now that the on-screen demo is gone. I can't count on the actual rating because everyone is between a 9 and 10 these days. They're all beautiful. They're all sexy. That's the problem. A 9 or 10 should go out to someone who's managed to set themselves apart from the standard...not because they gave you the same hard-on the last model did. The only information I can glean out of a rating now is if it's an 8...which tells me that somehow they failed to make the normal 9-point-something that everyone else has.

Perhaps limit the amount of these a user can actually give out in a specified period of time?

Make a 9 or 10 actually mean something again.

Hi, Spindoctor006~

First, it should be noted that creating multiple threads of the same topic is no-no here as it clogs the message boards. But it's your first post, so I assume it is a mistake.

I agree: ratings inflation is a problem. I see 10 after 10 given out by some members, and I just ignore those comments. I think the key is to find members who you generally agree with and pay close attention to those comments. I can be ***** on some ratings, but I don't rate every card.

Spacephantom provides detailed analysis on most every card, but only on Virtuagirl, not Deskbabaes. Perhaps take a look at Plasonic's comments on Deskbabes.

Extra post deleted. Sorry about that. Given that there was a forum for both DeskBabes and VirtuaGirl, I didn't know whether or not a concern that goes across both of them should be posted to one forum or both.

I suppose the only thing to do is pay attention to comments that are actually worth the time put into them. I just didn't want it to remain that way. When I first came around, there wasn't an abundance of 9's. If I saw one, I looked further to find out why. Now it's just 9 across the board. Might as well drop the rating system if this continues to be the case. You have an obsolete value taking up memory on the servers and ***** functionality and coding implementing it.

Given that I've only ever seen ratings ranging 7 to 9...Totem should just ditch the 10 point scale and move to a 5 point one. Your average, did-their-job as expected girls get a 3 while the ones who fell short get a 2. The dismal get a 1 and the spectacular get a 4 maybe 5. Maybe that'd be easier to judge by, but I image there'd just be a whole bunch of models with > 4 since showing up to the studio rates the max score these days.

Or add a rating system to the comments themselves. If someone's comment is just trash talk, failed to really justify their rating, or had no justification at all, then a lower comment rating would cause that user's rating of the model to have less weight in the overall rating calculation.

It's whatever I guess. It's just useless to see a 9 as an indicator of value. If that 9 has no good comments on it, then it's a crap shoot as to whether or not it's worth the money.

I agree that the ratings system is not very good.I have stated this before on previous thread.Using a scale of 1 to 10 without allowing incremental numbers is ridiculous.

In my opinion most guys already start out with a rating of the girls looks to begin with,as we naturally rate all women from 1 to 10.So,I would say that the majority of girls on VG or DB will already start with a rating of at least 8.This leaves us with no choice to rate between the numbers.

Why not allow us to rate a girl as 8.5 or 9.3 ,this would allow us to really rate a girls show and not just her looks. If a girl is a 9 in looks but not a great show she is just a 9.But,if a great show 9.5,9.7,etc.I would also allow expanding from 10 to 10.9 allowing the same flexibilty in rating the show.

This would really give us an ability to truly rate shows. Also this can work in reverse as well .If a girl is very pretty and rates a 9 in looks, but has a very lame show. You can now only give her an 8.9 or 8.5.Instead of having to only give
her an 8.

Or multiple categories to rate...like some of those who comment have used such as: Looks, Performance, Makeup, Outfit, etc.

The ratings system was discussed previously a couple of times. There was no consensus. At least it was changed so that only owners of cards can rate the cards.

I agree with the idea of a 5 point scale, ideally expressed in stars.

A few years ago, a rating of 9 or above was rare and special. Today, it's fairly commonplace, but still pretty special. However, I can explain this apparent "ratings inflation" with the obvious truth that the quality of the shows and the beauty of the women on average really has increased since those early years of VirtuaGirl HD. My point is that we have remarkably kept to a consistent standard. A 9.36 today really does seem to be about .1 better than a 9.26 of a few years ago. IMHO, it's amazing that our rulers still seem to be calibrated the same as they have always been, and that DB ratings are comparable to VGHD ratings.

But having said that, I also wish we could give out fractional or decimal ratings instead of only whole numbers.
