I have been dissatisfied for some time with the video quality I was getting from iStripper on my 4K display- things were (depending on the card) somewhat blurry and not as clear as I would have expected. I was using, for consistency between the 3K and 4K collections, display settings of 60% (small size) / 90% (full size) like many other do to avoid having image clipping at the top of the screen with 4K and rather small images with 3K. And it did a pretty good job of having the images be pretty consistent beween the 3 and 4K cards. But it never quite looks as it should.

And then, I saw that little discussion (probably by @Wyldanimal ) on just what that "don't zoom over 100% of the clips' original size" checkbox does and tried that with 60 / 100 sizes and wow, much clearer. Because, apparently, not checking that meant that both 3K and 4K were being scaled- 4k smaller and 3K larger- and neither much enjoyed the experience.

So how do I fix this? I want the best possible images of the lovely iStripper girls but would really like the 4K girls to keep the tops of their heads.

I guess the best compromise is checking the box and using 60/90%. 3K girls are crisp and sharp, and 4K girls keep their heads. HUGE difference for the 3K cards.

1st off, make sure that windows scaling is Not scaling iStripper.
Most 4K setups, Have some type of Windows Scaling. from 125% up to 200%
This causes pixel doubling of the animations.

So go review the posts here
https://www.istripper.com/forum/thread/51991/1?post=752785
Всё о iStripper / Questions after buying a new laptop
Newer Laptops come out of the box with Windows Screen Scaling enabled. usually between 125% and up to 200% It's used to make tiny text look bigger on a Physically Small, High Resolution Screen. iStrip...
Now that you are NOT scaling iStripper with Windows Scaling.

you can leave the Don't zoom over 100% NOT checked.

when you set the size Slider,
your Animation will then be Scaled to that Percentage of the Screen.

If you DO CHECK the don't zoom over 100% box.
then 3K clips will max out at approx 1200 pixels Tall.
and 4K clips will max out at approx 1500 pixels Tall.

OK, that is interesting. With Windows scaling disabled (this is on a very good 27" 4K monitor):

Don't zoom box Unchecked:

4K at 90% is glorious. THAT's what it was supposed to look like.

App interface is teeny tiny. Apparently it can't scale itself all the way to 4K.

3K is, yes, improved! For some cards, very much improved!

But with the box checked things are a bit odd- 3K images are about 800 pixels high and will go no larger (or smaller, for that matter) regardless of the slider position. Both the "Large" and "Small" (at 60% for small) are exactly the same size.

I can believe 1500 for the 4K images is correct.

So, box unchecked again and I will enjoy my new improved video (even if I have to squint a bit at the app). Thanks @Wyldanimal ! It does indeed seem that Windows scaling was the culprit. Mine was defaulting to 150%, by the way.

Still doesn't help for me although it was less blurry when using the GPU mode. Also I don't have 4K cards so that may make the difference. I do 3K cards at 95% with the box ticked for the clearest image with windows scaling 150% on a 28" 4K monitor. I'll rest my eyes and try again later though.

I also had to disable hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling in Windows sometime ago because it just caused problems and solved nothing. Made the client blurry and my GPU went back and forth 60-100% with no programs running or windows open. Of course NVIDIA has updates and new options added so maybe there is a combination of settings that will do the job I just don't know what they might be. (My settings are for highest quality which seems to disable most features.)

If anyone knows GPU settings with or without windows scaling that perform well for the iStripper app let me know.

I have a RDX3070 but I am not running GPU mode since my processor is pretty fast. I have just checked and I don't see any difference between the modes. I am running a pretty current driver though. It looks like my Nvidia settings are all defaults. Windows is not set to use HDR. I do have a silly-good 4K monitor, though. Ausus ROG XG27UQR. So my video is ***** SUPPOSED to look good.

Windows scaling was clearly the culprit in my case but I doubt it's the only one out there. Good luck!

I do 3K cards at 95% with the box ticked for the clearest image with windows scaling 150% on a 28" 4K monitor.

you just said what your culprit is.

Windows Scaling at 150%.
Your GUI and all of the Animations are Pixel doubled.
Every pixel being displayed is Being doubled in size.

You have to eliminate the Windows Scaling of the iStripper App.

YES, the App will be so tiny you can barley read it.
But that is Because it is NO LONGER being pixel doubled.

once you eliminate the Windows Scaling, then you can enjoy the Animations at their Native resolution.

With the box CHECKED don't zoom over 100%, you will NOT be able to Size the animations bigger than their
native size.
On a 4K screen, these might appear small at their native size.

But that is the MAX non-Scaled sized of the animations.

Remove the check from the Do not scale over 100% and now you can size the animations to your Screen.
They will still be crystal Clear, but not as Clear as they are when not scaled over 100%

I can confirm that you really really really want to disable Windows scaling. SO much better. Follow @Wyldanimal 's instructions to the letter.

It is (or should be) one of the prime tenets of the Cult of Cute Dancing Girls.

It really is amazing, I had a clip play and I knew right away that it had been shot in the American studio by the lighting- and I had never noticed before.

And also, with my now unadulterated image quality the superiority of 4K is more evident than ever. It is just beautiful. The downside of which is that it is harder than ever to look away and do work. They even look good at 50%!

I did with and without window scale and they failed. Both failed.

I am looking for not scale but definition.

(I am sorry it does sound pissy. 😳 😄)

I am looking for not scale but definition.

As with any pixel based graphics you should get the best definition if the pixels in the source are directly mapped to pixels on the screen.

If there is not a one to one mapping then some scaling and interpolation or extrapolation must, of necessity, be involved - this will introduce blurring and hence reduce definition.

If the scaling is done by two independant pieces of software - e.g. iStripper and Windows - the effect can be expected to be worse than if only one is doing it.

For the "best" results you should configure things such that neither iStripper nor Windows is performing any scaling.

With all scaling off it is only a tiny bit better. I even got GPU mode to work earlier but now it runs slow and with choppy sound. Strange because it was working fine this morning. I'll figure it out those settings eventually. Thanks guys.

ASUS Tuf Gaming 28" 4K

CPU i5-6400 at 2.70Ghz (3.25)

GPU NVIDIA RTX 3070

I also have a 40" 1080p second screen without scaling for the old cards 720p and 1080p that works well. Only 480p is a problem now unless I find a way old monitor. 😄 😎

It seems clear that if you are going to do scaling at all, you only want one thing doing it. It also seems clear that without some scaling you may have images on a 4K screen that are smaller than you want- particularly if you start with 3K. I guess you just have to pick the tradeoffs you are comfortable with.

4K originals look better- lots better- even when scaled because they are getting scaled a lot less than the poor 3K cards to get to 90%. But they sure take up a bunch of space.

Well, further investigation suggests (for 4K displays) that the optimum max size is 75% (unchecked). 3K looks a lot better when it is scaled less this way, and 4K will not be scaled at all. (iStripper scaling isn't all that granular; I see no difference between 70 and 75% for 4K) I think I can get used to the somewhat smaller images...

Niemira is looking very good at 75% rather than 90%.

I agree these are the best settings. 👍 (Users may deem other wise based on display and said user settings, awesomeness may occur. 😎)

If you place a check mark in the Do Not Zoom over 100%.
Then Adjust the Zoom Slide while watching a clip.
Using Pause is even better.
Start below 50% and move the slider slowly upwards.
With each slider change you will see the clip size change.

You will find the Slider setting, where the clip no longer changes Size.
then move the slider the other way, till you again see a change.
( hover the mouse over the slider and you can use the arrow Keys to go 1% at a time )
This is the Maximum Zoom value that is also the same as 100% Native Size.

remove the check mark from don't zoom.
And now you know where to set the slide so that you are seeing 100% the Native size.

hope that makes Sense.

Yep, that's how I came up with 75%. 😀 It was the best compromise for me, because I have so many CC+ 4K cards. They won't be zoomed, and the 3K cards will still look pretty decent at 75%. Unzoomed 3K is just too small on my screen.
