Sometimes, it is just a bad idea. It may seem very sophisticated and smart, but it is not.
Why not keep it simple and keep your customers happy.

Avoid disappointment and stop with those Special Event Cards. As customers we deserve a better treatment. Dont play with our money - leave that part to us. Please.

After the recent 'backlash' about special cards the response is to release another one very soon after the last one.

I guess we can post all we want but I think we have our answer.

Most companies don't care about opinions, they only care about the money you give them.

If you really don't like Special Event cards, never buy them. When they realise it is not cost effective they'll stop releasing them. Simple as that really.

I'm definitely voting C. I'm not a fan of exclusive cards, but if they have to exist, I'd like to see them become available after some time for everyone to purchase, as if it were a normal card.

As a member I have no restriction on Exclusive cards, except one.

When the card is 1st released, there has to be an Event with a clear path that ALL members can follow to earn the card.
Not by Random selection.

An example of this is the Advent Calendar
the April Prebuy all cards
the Black Friday, Earn 10 stars ( with enough events that ALL members have a fare chance to get 10 stars )

Later, for the Members who didn't earn the card
the Games of Chance to win a card is ok, but Not for the Initial release.

I don't think the cards should be displayed in the Store with all the other cards that are available for Purchase.
A drop down filter option, to display Exclusive \ special event cards.
If that filter is not selected, then these card are not displayed in the store.

I pretty much agree with @wyldanimal on this. I see no real problem with the existence of exclusive cards. I regard them as being something extra over and above the normal product and I do not see why anyone should ***** about being offered something extra - the fact that they are essentially indistinguishable from normal cards should not matter though it obviously does to a few here. I have to wonder if there would be fewer complaints if the exclusive offers were for things other than cards of were for very distinctive cards like the 4 girl Sex On The Beach card (though that would be more expensive for Totem to produce).

For those that keep on saying that the exclusive cards will ***** customers and result in a loss of sales I can only say that the little evidence that we have so far points in exactly the opposite direction. Totem experimented with the first advent calendar and the fact that they repeated it (twice if you include the black Friday offer which was in many ways quite similar) is weak evidence that it had no such effect and indeed may have resulted in increased sales. But only Totem will know for certain.

The "special event" cards can not be just bought, the are only available via so called "special events". These only occur at infrequent intervals and impose special conditions on the participants such as buying all of the cards released in the 24 days before christmas which, if done, result in the special event card being available at no extra cost. This, in itself is controversial in that a few customers dislike it intensely.

Also controversial is that these cards appear in the store looking, at first, as if they are no different from the majority of cards (which is only true after they have been obtained) despite the conditions under which thaey can be obtained being very different.

A ***** ***** is that there are also cards that are tagged as "special occasion" cards, but these are just ordinary cards, that can be purchased in the normal way, that have theme such as a wedding or christmas.

I will also add insult to ***** for a good many community members here by saying that the card will remain forever grey and will not be downloaded by me.

... like others, I have nothing against extra cards or videos for those that need to feel special, and like to spend big to do it. Like others, this should not be part of the standard store model. It should not be counted as part of a standard collection.

This is the reason I suggested 'The Vault'. An area that all this 'special' junk can be in store, in a nice sealed area, away from anything else in a standard store. This Vault should contain nothing but an extra store area... no chat room for special VIP's, no areas that divisive issues can arise. We get more than enough of that right here in the forums! ;)

... and, as others said, these special cards should have good reason, fall, summer or autumn occasions. Too many makes them... not so special... and out of reach of so many of us peons. ;)

3 and a half month later, 180 votes, myself was right absolutely
Poll shows nothing at all, not enough people cared to vote or could not properly pick which option to vote for.
Option a) and b) with the 12+4 % took away 16% of the votes, which would have shown a significant difference between c) and d) if there would have been no a) and b) choices.
The winner 50 % says nothing: if only half on the people agree, it means, that the other half disagreed somewhat.
The customers still ***** about this type of cards.

The poll shows that more than 80% do not think cards should never be unobtainable by normal means, almost 50 percent are willing to give totem the go ahead and say they can do these promotions but eventually the card should be released as normal for purchase. 35% think they should be done away with all together. While 180 isnt alot it least shows those who are active in the forms what they think.

Well, as it seems more and more special event cards are coming up (increaseing the amount total there are of them) maybe oneday Totem will have a reward system for special event cards.... say, once you reach platinum status, one of the perks when you hit platinum is you get to pick ONE special event card upon reaching platium, then again at double and triple... so you can (in time and as your collection grows) get at least 3 of them as you level your status. I think making it for bronze and silver are too low IMO. At least this would be something that rewarded spenders/long time loyal memebers if they happen to miss it and cant get luck to aquire them.... What would be the *****, esp if more and more are introduced to the pool of special cards...

You can not add the 50+30 when there is a significant difference, one saying "yes" and the other says "no"
