There's a lot of movies from the 60's and 50's being released on blu ray (1080p) and they were filmed with very old equipment, so...sorry but I still don't understand why is not possible.
Don't you Totem have Technology enough for the update? Is that?
////////////////////
Movies recorded on real Film back in the 50's, 60's had a grain structure where the recorded images on Film were as good as 1080p digital. Possibly even as good as 4K
So they can take an Old Movie Film, and Digitally Remaster it.
Because there is Enough Grain / Resolution to allow it.
Film typically was able to capture the equivalent of 90 to 100 lines per mm.
so for a wide frame 35mm movie film
This would be the Equivalent to a 7000 x 4800 digital capture or about a 34 mega pixel image.
and if it was a 65mm film, that's 14,400 x 9,600 or about 138 mega pixels.
Film was and still is an Amazing medium to record on.
Totems Recording are Done Digitally.
And at the time, the Digital recordings were only good enough for 720p
Also:
Some of the Remaster movies on Blu-Ray, still run in a Letterbox.
They are released on Blu-Ray just for Compatibility Sake, not Because they are Re-Masted to 1080p.
