Again, I slide down the list and there's exactly ZERO I can do about it.

I buy all the shows, all the VR content, and every promotion I can get my hands on ... but my rank keeps falling.

I currently own 4,858 shows - more than anyone on the list.

This algorithm really isn't kind to members.

Each card can be identified using the CardID. The CardID consists of a letter followed by four digits.

Thus the following CardID's are examples for each card series:
a0001 b0001 c0001 d0001 e0001 f0001

Series B (VirtuaGuy) cards are ignored in this count.
Not every user wants to see guys on the screen.

Cards that can no longer be bought in the GirlsStore are also ignored.
Users who do not have these cards would have no chance of getting a top ranking.

@Stanston did a few more this time and took your second place.
And I did far too many - it's a bit embarrassing really - need to try harder and NOT get involved in so many discussions.
I've certainly slowed down on the buying side - doubt I will ever be on the complete collections list. Does seem on that side there is debate as to what actually is a complete collection.

Sorry - I'm not sure how your reply is relevant?

My point is this - that despite buying EVERY SINGLE CARD (I'm on Auto) that is released, my rank keeps slipping. And there's nothing I can actually do about it.

So - even being a loyal customer, I'm falling off the register and will shortly no longer appear - even though I am buying every card.

Surely that doesn't make any sense at all?

Tenure should not count in the same list as collection size. They should be separate.

Tenure should not count in the same list as collection size. They should be separate.

So when there are 179 members who ALL have a Full Collection.
I see it as, there are 179 members tied for 1st Place.

Currently they are listed in Ordered by Join Date. Tenure as you say.
And I find no issues with that.

How do you think the list should be Ordered?

I agree with @Wyldanimal. The numerical position within each group on the list, though well defined, has little or no significance with respect to the ranking for collection size - a random order would be just as relevant or rather it would be just as irrelevant.

There is no more merit in being first in the list than being last in the group of those with full collections . I suppose you could say that the lower down the group you are corresponds to being the faster in getting the current full collection than those higher in the list so if you really must assign some merit in the position then being low down the list implies is in some way a "better" achievement that being higher up it - but that is clutching at straws.

So what - I have 4882 cards in my collection, and others who have been members longer than I have have even more. I am missing a dozen or so withdrawn cards and about 100 Gay cards while a few members have all of those (and a few insiders also have cards that have never been released) so we are a long way from having truely maximal collections.

But not all cards count for this award, only those that everybody has a chance of obtaining. To count all cards would remove all traces of it being a "fair" competition and make it one that no newcomer could ever "win".

The "Largest Collection Awards" is slightly misnamed, but any more accurate name would be rather unwieldy.

Why we don't all ask such cards to be eventually released (maybe only for high level members, and also discounted if they are technically not so good &/or incomplete)?

We all have such a counter - actually two one for posts and a second for card comments. Though we would need to manualy take note of their values at the start of each month. They are visible to everyone via our profiles.

Here's a thought for you.

If you look at the screen print you will see that the store currently holds 4942 cards available for purchase. This does, of course, include the boys from the old VirtuaGuy days.

As a test, I purchased one of these cards (believe me - it may never get watched!) and my card count did increase in both My Collection and in my Profile by 1.

So - if I bought all those cards I would only be just 58 cards away from the magic 5k.

Now ask yourself the question - what would YOU be prepared to do to get there first?

😆😆😆

PS - I'm not going to because as a Moderator I am automatically disqualified from the Hall Of Fame.

I have some possible solutions to propose:

1. Make the "Hall of Fame" a MONTHLY (rather than lifetime) award - that is, the first ones to buy all shows in a MONTH (those with Auto-Buy will obviously come first).

2. Have a separate "Lifetime Hall of Fame" for those with complete collections, Similarly, base the ranking on who completes their collection FIRST. That is, based on who owns all the AVAILBLE cards FIRST in a given month

3. Alternatively, or possibly as well, introduce a forum flair for those who own all the shows at the end of the previous month. Perhaps a little symbol similar to the Premium membership that demonstrates the loyalty.

4. Instead of "RANKING" members - simply provide a list of those with full collections in alphabetical order of username. If you have a full collection, you get added to the Hall of Fame, if you don't you miss out. Simple as that. In other words, simply eliminate the idea of ranking from the public forum.

The fact that I keep slipping down the list and can do NOTHING about it - even when I buy EVERY show (Auto-Buy) and play all the promotions to get the SECs, AND buy all the VR shows is infuriating. Every month, I get the sense my membership and custom is less and less valuable to Totem.

Surely something can be done about it?

Instead of "RANKING" members - simply provide a list of those with full collections in alphabetical order of username.

There is no ranking of the full collections, the entries are just just numbered. You are assigning a meaning to a number where there is none and then, apparently, treating it as a competition for no readily discernable reason.

The list has to have some order, the order used is no more meaningful and no less meaningful than alphabetical order (or a purely random order). You would still be moving down the list as people with names that came earlier in the alphabet completed their collection (and you would be permanantly near the end). I would prefer alphabetical order but that is mainly because it makes finding a name easier in the app where there is no in page "find string" function as there is if you use the web site.

Uh, I thoroughly disagree @TheEmu. It is a numbered list, and is ordered by tenure - that has already been established.

The problem with that is someone who bought one show 10 years ago, then bought all the shows after I completed my collection would rank AHEAD of me on this list.

The simplest way to resolve this would be (as you say) to sort it by username. No more ***** or feelings of being "de-ranked" by others. And it's easier to find my name to boot. I'm less concerned about my place in an alphabetical list than one that is numbered, for sure ... although I imagine people would then start doing stupid things like calling themselves aaa_aaa and what-not ... but I think that's still unlikely.

It is a numbered list, and is ordered by tenure - that has already been established.

So what - its still not a ranking. Position 2 is just as "good" as position 73 - they are both part of the "first rank". Any "de-ranking" is purely within your imagination.

The ordering is almost certainly by your user id - which happens to correlate with "tenure".
