First the team disfigured its program, now does not allow ordinary users to buy cards. When will this degradation end? Videos are not a commodity that has a limited quantity. I do not participate in any contests and promotions, I just want to buy cards with my favorites (Skye Blue and Melena). There are only two ways: I'll just buy these cards or don't buy. There are no other options and will not be. I'll wait for the team to grow wiser.

Why great another topic about this?

You do not have the right to buy cards you have the privilege to buy cards.
Totem makes the cards and they are the one to offer it the way the want.

Because of that there are 3 options: You buy, you do not buy or you can win them. It's there decision to make how to offer it not yours.

Why can't people understand that. Like it or not business is business and Totem thinks they get more money with Special Event Card.

If i don't agree with the company's way of doing business i don't use it even if it's make things harder for me. (that's why i have an older version of Office and Photoshop. Not using FB and twitter)

"Why can't people understand that."You made me laugh. You don't understand a damn thing.
For every silliness from the team, you nod your donkey manes.
Is it business? I will write again for you that there are only two ways:
1) I spend now, right now, my credits on the cards I like.
2) I erase these cards from my memory and never buy them. Never!
And your example of older versions of Office and Photoshop is not appropriate. More than 10 years ago, I wrote that users should be left with a choice, but Totem imposes program updates that can not be abandoned.
In the near future I will create a topic with a list of complaints about the program. I know I'll be ignored, but I don't want to be silent.

You are not silent but there are allot of topic about Special Event Card you can but your complaints there. New topic will not make a difference unless it will cost Totem money.

What do i not understand. Totem makes the cards and they are the one to offer it the way they want.
If you create something and i want it for 50% of the price you lower it just because i ask?
Customers want to pay as low as they can company's want customers to pay as much as possible.

Again there are 3 ways.
Buy cards that are for sale and you like.
Not to buy cards that are on sale but you don't like
A change to win cards where the Special Event Card has only the option to win.

Totem does not have to sell cards if they don't want to.

My example is that if you don't like something look for somting else.

This one i indeed don't understand:
you nod your donkey manes
Every store has 2 side and i look at both side.

It really smacks of privilege to continue defending such a consumer unfriendly policy. Totem is a company, and as a company it needs to reach out to ALL it's customers. Stop watching the whale credits and count those plankton decimals, they all add up! :)

I see that you sport a crown and your derision of another users right to open a new topic makes me worry. These new kind of policies that are recently being enacted really divide a community, like this, right now. Here... it really must stop.

As @Plasonic :) used to say "Us and them? I say we." ... or something like that. Those were the days... :)

Everybody has the right to write its disagree with the choices of the company, in good words of course (no *****, etc.). And it's the case here. All the members may let the others do that, as a democracy.

I'm not interested in participating in any games. I'm not trying to find profit. I'm willing to pay twice as much for these cards as any of the players. But, if the team believes that they will make more profit by not selling the cards, then the topic is closed. So I'm going the second way.

@Boorlom - You asked (or at least appeared to ask) why do the special event cards exist.

To this I will continue to suggest that they exist for exactly the same reason as why the ordinary cards exist, and why Totem sometimes make offers like buy four get one free or extra 20% discounts or indeed any of the TGIF events. In all cases they exist because they benefit Totem not because they benefit their customers. However, in most cases there will be some customers that also benefit and some that don't.

If you were instead asking why should a customer take up the offer of a spcial event card then there is no general answer. For some they will be attractive (given my buying habits they have been essentially free) and for others they will not. If they don't suit you then just ignore them. Totem gain in part because there are customers who logically should ignore these cards but don't.

Simple scenario. Regular visitors of the forum predictably respond to those who Express dissatisfaction.
Totem comes up with scams and users are ***** to accept them. The key word is *****. Due to the lack of competitors. Therefore, many users can be ignored.
Creating this topic, I did not hope to argue with anyone and convince, but your reasoning is not convincing. This is just a signal from another user who does not understand such a restriction and will not understand. Such users were before me and will be after me.

An absurd situation: the buyer comes to the store, sees the goods on the counter, the buyer has a desire to buy this product, he has money, but the seller does not sell, says that you need to take part in some strange games. There is an elementary question at the buyer: "And what this goods special or has limited quantity?"And the seller says," No, it's a normal product and has an infinite number, but we decided to make buyers play, because we get more profit." In this case, I'll say it's stupid, turn around and walk away. I have my own life, interests, Hobbies, family, work.
I have no desire to hang out on this forum or constantly follow the news. I deploy the program from the tray once a week to look into "Story".

Which is why I am currently running my credits balance down to Nil and becoming an ex customer of Totem.
In theory it is possible to spend the entire UK gold and currency reserves kept in the Bank of England and still not obtain all the Special Events cards.

As Totem have now adopted a business model where they do not want to sell me their product at a sensible price, I no longer want to be a customer of theirs.

I see that sort of thing most weeks in real physical businesses - and have been seeing it for over 60 years. Often the establishments that do this are called clubs, or airport executive lounges, or are part of a store's loyalty card scheme but there are many variations. I see it even more often for online services. Totem are not the odd man out here, just following a well established practice.

A very common example here in Germany is seen at almost any town fair in the shape of "attractions" that offer a range of cheap cuddly toys as prizes for buying a raffle ticket.

Totem comes up with scams and users are ***** to accept them.

They mot definitely are not scams, nor are you ***** to participate. It is your choice as to whether or not you think it is worthwhile.

I am not attempting to persuade you that such practices are either good or bad, only trying to explain why Totem indulge in them. For what it is worth I don't like the special event cards or any of the gambling games, but I do understand why Totem like them and that is all that I have been talking about in this set of posts.

Totem is one company, but it has two different businesses:
  • Selling stripper shows (cards & VR)
  • Running gambling games

In a similar fashion, CBS is one company, but they have two different businesses:
  • The CBS network - a television network funded by commercials and distributor fees
  • CBS All Access - a premium streaming service funded by customer subscription fees
Although I am a customer of the CBS network, that doesn't give me any rights to view shows on the streaming service (e.g. Star Trek: Discovery or Picard). @shodan084, your statement "Totem is a company, and as a company it needs to reach out to ALL it's customers." might not be applicable to the SECs because customers of Totem's first business are not automatically customers of their second business.

@Boorlom, you appear to be objecting to Totem (and potentially any other company) running gambling games with prizes that cannot be obtained through any other means. Unfortunately, that situation is not particularly uncommon. I've seen raffles, door prizes and radio station contests that feature fairly unique items like back-stage passes to concerts, instruments used by famous musicians, photo sessions with celebrities and movie props. Are you objecting to that gambling model in general, not specifically to its use by Totem? Or is it that Totem could make the SEC cards available through their primary business but chooses not to? (The latter would be similar Star Trek fans ***** that CBS should show Discovery on their commercial network and shouldn't be trying to create a streaming business.)

You compare rare musical instruments in single copies with just the 7th card from the XXX category. In fact, it is a pornographic film from the category "Solo" divided into episodes. This video can be bought endlessly, it does not have a fixed amount. Thanks to your absurd analogies, I have established myself in my own opinion. Write in this topic, that-either still I not d. I expressed my opinion. If two cards of interest to me appear on sale, then I will buy them, if not, then I will not buy.

It is commercial ***** to think that you can make your business model so exclusive that you can select the type of clientele you want to sell your wares to. Good word of mouth can bring a business back from the brink, and in the same way it can be damned forever. Underestimate the customer or treat them badly and you will pay the consequences...

... really, I think anyone that thinks differently must be out of their gourd... ;)

Thanks to your absurd analogies

@Boorlom, I'm not sure why you consider my analogies absurd, I was just pointing out that it's not uncommon for actually rare items (e.g. a musical instrument) or artificially rare items (backstage passes, photo sessions) to be used in conjuntion with games of chance in order to obtain money. I certainly respect your choice not to participate in the gambling games. In general, I don't either. The only point we appear to differ on is whether Totem is unwise to use this business model with artificially rare items.

@shodan084, Actually, this is more common than you think. Putting some items out of reach of the average consumer can help differentiate both the product and the brand. ***** Airlines is a good example of that. Likewise, the Halston brand of clothing was originally for the swanky rich and they were doing quite well . . . until they decided to make a more affordable line sold through J. C. Penney's. What do you think would happen to Gucci if suddenly the common folk were all carrying their purses and wearing their shoes? It's probably a sad statement about humanity, but many people are willing to pay more to get a product that's exclusive. That's probably why the Mandalay Bay Casino features the Fleur Burger 5000, a meal consisting of a hamburger and bottle of wine that sells for . . . you guessed it . . . $5000.00. (FYI, that's significantly more than the value of the wine.)

If totem had more options for talent I could certainly see some crowd funding opportunities where the wealthier of our community could fund a girl to fly to Paris. She could put on a few exclusive cards for the crowd that funded her, even wear an outfit of their choice or funding. Might be an option in the future.

@Boorlom

We are not taking issue with you disliking certain aspects of the way on which Totem make certain cards available to their customers, only to your assertions that this it is a bad business practice and that is rarely if ever encountered in other businesses. That which you are objecting to has long been a very common practice in all sorts of businesses.

Consider, for example, Pokemon cards. Some of these are extraordinarily rare because the company making them quite arbitrarilly decided to only produce a very small number of them rather than the thousands or millions that that could have produced.

The website https://www.ranker.com/list/most-expensive-pokmon-cards/mariel-loveland has the following when talking about one particular card

How Much It's Worth: Up to $195,000

Why It's Worth So Much: This card was given only to winners of the CoroCoro Comic Illustration Contest in January 1998. Only 20 to 39 of these cards exist in the world and only 10 are in mint condition. As of October 2019, it is the most expensive Pokémon card ever sold.

What Totem are doing with the Special Event cards is entirely analogous to the above - and much less extreme. What they are doing in the gambling games in general, for non-special event cards, is also very close to the way Pokemon cards were sold in packs where you did not know exactly what you were buying until after the purchase. Please note I said analogous to, not identical with.

Sorry, but I did not translate your text, because it makes no sense. I don't want to waste my time.
This is not a rare thing, which can be a long debate or brag to friends . It's just porn.
This morning I came up with a very simple and easily doable rule for myself.
Some time ago, I created a thread where I was outraged about too few cards with Blake Eden and Jillian Janson (only 4 cards each). And I was told that the new Studio did not meet the time. Is this the excuse of professionals?!
I will not buy cards piece by piece, as I often did before. Now I will wait for all the cards with the model I like. If only one card will be in the category " Special.."then I'll buy five cards and forget about the sixth. If two cards in the category " special.."then I don't buy-4 is too little. Blake Eden and Jillian Janson are the last favourites who have only 4 cards each.

Manue, I read this topic earlier. It doesn't change anything.
Interest will drop. Cards in this category will age inevitably and the desire to buy them will fade.
Special Even Card is the idea of one person from the team (always one person). He (or she) voiced this idea, colleagues liked it and implemented it. And I hope that someone from the team will come up with another idea and ask the question: "Why the hell are we still not selling these cards?"

And then there will be predictable events. In the future, on the eve of any holiday (perhaps Christmas), you will create a theme in which you write that by popular demand of users, we conferred, decided to put part of the cards "Special" for free sale.
Regular visitors to the forum will clap their hands and say how generous you are.
I'll just wait.

Totem can not do that for all of the special event cards because when they released some of them they said that the card will never be released for normal sale (and thus have entered into a contract with those that obtained them that they will not do so). They could, however, do it for some of the special event cards, those for which they did not make this promise.

Just what is your problem?

Personally I dislike the Special Events offering "exclusive" cards (and have said so several times)

and I really dislike the gambling games (and have said so several times).

I wish Totem had never introduced either of these features and had stayed with simply selling the cards.

However, when others claim that similar features are rarely used elsewhere when in fact they are quite common I feel that it it is worthwhile pointing out that this is not true - even though I wish that it was.
