Unfortunately that is what happened to VirtuaGuy.
The Sales of the Product did not cover the costs of production.
Totem even continued Production for Over a Year loosing money on it.
with the Hopes that it would gain some momentum, and prove to be sustainable.
But ultimately, there just wasn't a large enough member base, that actually Purchased the product.
There was a huge Member base of just Free users..
But for unknown reasons, the free Users didn't convert to Paying members like they do for Virtuagirl.
Sure, we have a small percentage of Members here that are interested.
But that doesn't work out to profit for Totem.
If you can get 50,000 to 100,000 members willing to purchase 50 cards
Maybe it would draw some attention...
but 100 - 500 paying members just won't cut it..
Run some numbers...
Totem Staff - 20
Avg Salary - 50,000
combined Salary = 1,000,000
Produce 50 cards (One per Week)
Cost per card (not Including Model Fee) 20,000 per card to cover Staff Salary.
At 2 credits per card, Totem needs to sell at least 500,000 cards to break even.
But maybe 1/2 the credits go towards overhead..
So now Totem needs to Sell at least 1,000,000 cards
