Note: if you choose to store on an external hard drive, it might happen that your collection
(or part of) becomes unavailable for a while if your computer looses the connection with the
external drive for a short time; it can also happen at computer start if iStripper starts
before the external drive gets reachable...

And maybe it has something to do with Windows Fast Boot.

I'm not sure if it will help you but you could give it a try.

From my time on ubuntuusers.de many people which were running a Dualboot with Windows and Linux
had problems, while Fastboot in Windows was active.

And one of these problems were, they didn't get Access to their Files on an external HDD after they left
the Linux Session, to Boot in Windows again. It's only an Idea, but maybe it's helpful.

I've never had problems before ... unfortunately the previous hard disk, always external, which I used as IStripper data directory, but also for direct file download via jdownloader, is dead.

It only comes to mind now that, contrary to what I remembered, I did NOT copy the files of the clips, which are no longer available, but I had to download them all from scratch.

Don't worry - when Manue and the support team look at your log tomorrow, hopefully they will identify what went wrong.

Most importantly you have most of your files restored.

Just a question I was reading through this forum and part of the discussion mentions that an external drive that is disconnected for a period of time may cause the clips to become invalid for some or all of the shows. I have 2 external drives one with my entire collection on it connected at all times and another with the entire collection copied that is never connected. The purpose I had hoped is if god forbid something ever happens to my computer and I lose everything I would have this backup. Is this ultimately not going to work ? I thought maybe I would reconnect once or twice a year to update with additional shows that I have bought.

Absolutely it will work.
You Must have all of the Data folders, and all of the models folders duplicated.
and in the exact same path as the Original.


1st
when you Connect the Other drive, it may be assigned a different Drive Letter.
You Would have to do one of two things
1) edit the Data setting in istripper so the Path now points to the new Drive letter.
or
2) Use Disk management, and ***** the Drive to use the same drive letter as the original one.
of Course you couldn't have BOTH connected this way.
But that would be in the case that the One failed, and now the Spare, has a Different Drive letter.

2nd
after the Spare drive is connected and you Verify that the Drive letter and Pats are the Same.

Then you would use advance setting, rebuild collection to let iStripper take an inventory of what is on the Drive.
