Tattoos often mean something only to the wearer which makes me think, if you have to explain it why ink it on your skin in the first place? <(^_^)>

Your comment on the translation of Chinese characters reminds me of when I took my Chinese ***** in law to the British Museum, and found that they had an exhibiton devoted to the Ming Dynasty, which included a message written by the emperor of China in 1389, the same year as the peasants revolt in the UK when a word like like FRIENDSHIP was spelt FRENDSCHIPPIS.

Yet she could not only read ithis Royal message easily but also ***** about the appalling quality of the translation, which turned what in the original was comparable to a Shakespeare sonnet into a *****'s text message; and then demonstrated the fact by making her own translation for me in which she restored all the poetry!

For me this was one of handful of near miraculous moments of my life, in which it was as if I was transported back into the presence of the Emperor of China in 1389, with my own personal translator giving me a simultaneous translation of what he was saying .

I have always had a vivid visuo-spacial memory. My very first memory is from the summer of 1943 when I was 3 1/2 years old. I am sitting in a Morrison shelterlooking out. ( named after Herbert Morrison, it was a steel table which could be erected in the living room and turned the hous it self into a shelter, by supporting its masonary if the house collapsed) . I am annoyed because as I am not wearing my slippers I am not allowed to join the adults who are looking out of the bay window silhouetted by an orange glow filling the whole sky even though it is night time. This glow is also reflected off broken glass covering the floor. It is the aftermath of a German air raid seeking Croydon Airfield.

Your memory is incredible and mine used to be as good almost total 100% recall, but unfortunately for me it is fading and I am not yet your age.

Still what got me most was your interaction with your Granddaughter. My wife and I were blessed with a granddaughter in Augusr 2019 and it was a wonderful experience.
