I see I can set how often previews are pushed out, but can I opt out completely of ever seeing them?

Go to your Settings -> Set the Checkbox Advanced Settings -> Scroll down to Clips! and you should see
the Push Preview including an Drop Down Menu to deactivate them.

This is good to know, I've been looking for an option to turn them off but only because for some unknown reason, the download speed is horrendous for me, I got 75 Mbs connection but models get downloaded in kilobytes and dunno what's wrong :(

Totem's servers are under heavy load during the Black Friday event. So download speeds will probably slower than normal.

The previews are, by default, downloaded via a peer to peer network - which can be very slow - rather that directly from Totem's servers which is normally much faster. This applies even to the preview, demo, clips that are part of a purchased card and can cause a card's download to hang after downloading 100% of the regular clips. Disabling P2P in the settings will avoid the slow download.
