Yes you can. I have mine on a 1 TB drive.

Just connect the external drive and use the change storage location in Settings Tab and Advanced.

Could take some time to copy over depending how many you have.

432, and for some odd reason they all just disappeared from the browser. Yet I've still got all the files on my computer as well as the website. An error?

Thank you for the information btw, I have a 2tb I was going to transfer them too.

Well bigger is better as the collection is always expanding. ;-D

But a real ***** when it fails.

Well, I used a free program called Junction Link magic. some model folders I still have on computer hard Drive and rest I put on usb hard drive. Used the program to make links with the program in vg model folder. Made 2 platlist, one for full and one for what I have on computer hard drive. Seems to be working so far. I made sure not to sycronize without usb drive attached to the computer. Data folder is still on computer.

I use an external 2 TB drive via USB. The best solution if you have a bigger collection.

Can we use USB drives? I got a 4GB one I'm trying to transfer some of the data to temporarily.

Will I need to have the USB Drive or External HDD Connected in order for me to use VG/DB? (I would assume so)

Yes, you can use a removable USB drive..
But a 4GB thumb drive isn't going to provide much space..
Unless you meant a 4TB drive??

Member Manneesh used Junctions.
I had written a full tutorial on using Junctions to SPLT your Collection to Multiple Drives.
Presently that is the Only way to use More than a Single Drive.

So while an External USB drive will work, Your Whole Collection must be transferred to it.
unless you use Junctions.

So, I've probably made things harder for myself than I would have, I deleted all of the files from my computer completely (In order to be sure I've cleared all double files that may have been accidently downloaded) as I am going to redownload all of the files to the 4gb (which it will have enough room for 454 models) and see about working it that way. However, It's a slow impeding process. But god are these girls worth it. :)

Although, I may have to hold off for a while until my 2tb External HD gets the missing component in order to connect, as of right now it's sitting on my table waiting for it to come in the mail.

In total, VG/DB has taken up 205gb of data with everything that is involved with the application.

I want to just store the models on the USB Drive and access them using the computer.

@AcidWizard ..

---- ".. as I am going to redownload all of the files to the 4gb (which it will have enough room for 454 models) and see about working it that way." ---- you say.

Perhaps I've got it wrong, but it doesn't seem that it's going to work this way. 4 GB thumb drive has enough room about for 7 to 8 full shows only. 454 purchased cards will need at least 250 GB free space on drive (one show is about 500 MB by size, not talking about demos of course).

So it would be really interesting to see this trick to accommodate all of your cards to 4 GB USB stick.

ha ha, I miscalculated. I thought I would be able to put all my lovelies on it. (I didn't realize the disk space)
But I was able to put about 21 on it before it was filled though. So No where near what I wanted. I will just have to keep working to fix the launcher then and wait for my component in the mail, in order to use my 2tb external. Which would have more than enough room if If I partitioned it.

Please can me somebody explain how can I have 2 folders with cards (one in computer and second external disk).
I installed program “Junction Link magic-linkmagic2” but I am not sure with function of the program. It is possible made linked only into one empty folder so I do not know how can I made linked for 2 folders.

Next problems which I solve is that is not possible only change “Location of my shows”. If I change it on external disk program start re-move cards from compute on external disk. If I change it on computer program start re-move cards from external disk into computer.
