This card can't have been out more than 2 weeks yet I have the update icon on her card and an update button on the app. What's in the update? I don't want to click it only to lose content. I already have it downloaded at 1080p so can't be that. If there was a post about it somewhere can someone direct me to it?

I've just hit that update button, as far as I can tell nothing has been lost. It should be okay...;)

usually you don't 'loose' a file, only improvments when you click on "update"
if files have to be deleted for a card, it comes from some really bad or crashing the software and they do need to be fixed.

except for my 2 lost Divine cards.. :(

but why would they need to update a week old card? what was wrong with it that was so bad it had to be updated in a week

@mitchell Some members experienced problems downloading this card the other day. This update might have something to do with that.

That sounds valid, but it would be nice if mods posted about this sort of thing imo. I am still a bit wary tbh. I think I will back up her specific folder before updating. I don't know why but I have a feeling after updating the card will be modified.

As for mods posting, they don't have a say in updates unless they raise an issue with the team. And I doubt the team let them know what updates are coming out.

For all the Members Who Don't Know this:
Nikotem with the Purple Star is a Totem Team Member ( He works for Totem )

So if he Posted that the Card has been Updated and you won't loose anything.
Then he's the one who would know..

DMon1981 is correct, that there is No Advance information about card updates.
Members see on the GUI about the Update the Same time as the MODs do..

It's as simple as that..
The Update Sticker means, something about that card has changed since you Last Downloaded it.
It could be for example:
A New Tag was added to it.
Or The Name was changed
Or one of the Animations had an issue and has been corrected.
Or maybe an Animation was coded incorrectly and it has been fixed.

Usually, there is an Update because someone reported something. (a missing Tag for example)
but On Occasion,
the Team discovers something that needs to be updated, before it gets reported.

in the past, we all had no way to know if there was an update to a card..
But Now the GUI has a Sticker and a button..

When you see the sticker on the card..
Update it..
It's there for a reason.

I did the update - took about 15 seconds so it didn't download anything significant and least not video clips. No clue what changed.

So out of curiosity I updated a Emily Spenser card but this time used a nirsoft tool to monitor changes. It took longer - I guess about 60 seconds and the results are more than I want to get into but it doesn't look like clips were deleted or added to me. Just a lot of what I guess are configuration files were changed, deleted, and created.

I will add just this little bit.
As with any type of Software..
it's a good idea to have a backup, in case something goes wrong during the update.

most of the time Updates work as planned. but sometimes, a lost connection, corrupt data, and the update does't work as it is supposed to..

So making a backup of the card, before you update is not such a bad Idea.
If All goes well. you can get rid of the backup..
If Something goes wrong, Then you have the backup.

Yes, it's an extra steps to do..
and it is up to you to manually do it..
but not such a bad idea...

It seems there was a synch problem with this card (its files has not been copied properly on all our servers when released and could not be downloaded fully by members). So we synched it again with all our servers and it worked fine this time. VirtuaGirl saw there was changes with this card and prompted an upgrade. The upgrade system has been done to deal mostly with fixes, but it also worked for this. I agree the is a lack of information as to "why?" there was a need for upgrade, we'll find a way to make it clearer in the future.
