The new software ( version v 1.0.6.98 ) states free credits are awarded when different status levels are reached.I have been a VIP for a while now. I don't recall receiving credits for any status level. Is this an incentive for members who are now reaching these levels only ?

Well, would be good to retroactively get some free stuff indeed. Good find. :)

This has been discussed quite a bit recently in another topic.
Nobody from the Team has stepped forward to say when it was implemented. Only that it is a new promotion for members who are now reaching the next levels and it's NOT retroactive.
When it was started is a valid question that should be answered seeing that they didn't bother to announce it.
For example.....Announcing this new promotion in the "What's New" category and putting it in the "News" box on the left of the page with the date it began would have prevented all the questions...Hint...Hint.

I just noticed it two days ago also. I got the same answer from customer service, that the free credits are not retroactive. Being a VIP member should give you consideration as a cash cow, and niceties like this should come as freebies for being a dedicated patron. I still like VG, but I am not cool with this little twist at all.
Maybe I should slow down on buying tickets.

It would indeed be nice to get those ten credits, but look at it realistically: There are probably thousands of VIP members, maybe tens of thousands. Issuing all of us 10 free tickets in one big Merry Xmas transaction would cause them to lose a lot of sales in the window of time following this - the VIP allotment alone would probably mean 100's of thousands of credits. Not only this, but every other level is offered free tickets too. Totem would have to issue literally millions of credits all at one time. This does not strike me as a shrewd business move.
Also, can you imagine the resulting strain on their servers? Egads!
As VIPs, let's hope that Totem adds a new level above VIP where we can get 15 free tickets.. say at 900 or 1000 VGHD cards. There is a poll about this - "Elite" has been suggested as a name for this group, but I like "Diamond".
That would be a good compromise for us long time VIP's, I think.
