there are a lot of things that impact the speed of the connection and not just the server at the other end:
- Speed at which your ISP connects
- Bandwidth allocation in the trans atlantic fibre optic cables
- How the evndor connects
- Traffic on the vendor servers
Typically from Australia to Totem servers, I usually get around 170 KBS, but at peak times, say the release of new cards, that will drop substaintly.
You have to remember that this is a smaller company and it does not necessarily have the capacity to put in all the connection points etc that large American companies do.
Having said that just comparing bandwidth speeds that you may get within the states, to bandwidth speeds available off shore is not necessarilly a valid comparison.
However Totem do indeed monitor there servers to try and get the best performance, but they also have to ensure that those connecting at a high speed from their end do not utlise all the Totem bandwidth to the detriment of those with slower connections.
