I really think we should be able to see full previews of the special event cards. Since we can use our joker cards to get them and don't only have to win them in games, I can't see why we can't have access to full preview. If totem does not want us to be able to download the previews, they should make them available on the site.

Am I missing something? Are they available somewhere I don't know about? What would be the problem with giving customers previews?

I totally agree.

I am not able to see what could be the problem; and also never got answer when I asked what's reason to hide previews of SECs.

The girls store on the iStripper website, rather than in the app does at least play a 30 second clip. More would be nice, but that's all we get.

This would look to me a reason more to get the app-previews too, rather than the opposite...

I can't think of a reason why they are not available either. If you look at a SEC's clip list it includes preview clips just like a normal card (at least the few I just checked did). I suspect that it is not a deliberate policy but is a side effect of some aspect of the programming that Totem do not regard as having a high priority for changing - maybe its something to do with preview pushing as you would hardly want to hace a SEC show up there and the logic that prevents that is involved.

True, in some cards these are an edited duplicate of one of the other full clips.
But in Many cards, These are Unique clips and might be the Only Level 1 clips for that card.

@Wyldanimal

Maybe you misunderstod me. I was not wondering if the fact that SECs had preview clips was a side effect of some decision but if the fact that we can't then use them as previews was.

If there were no preview clips for a SEC then it would be quite clear why we can't preview those cards. As the preview clips exist there is a question as to why they then can't be used as previews. As I said in my previous post I doubt that this was due a deliberate policy of not providing previews for SECs but was a side effect of how the preview system (including preview pushes) works. Possibly the history was something like the following.

We don't want to push previews of SECs (with random discounts that would not be applicable to SECs).

There are two ways to implement this, a simple one that pretends that there are no preview clips which only needs extra code in one place or a more complex one thar requires code to be added in two or more places.

We will implement the simpler method.

This has a side effect of peventing previews for those cards but this is not a high priority to fix,

I fully understood your 1st post.

please see my 1st response.

Please look at the software, it is by Deliberate design
that members can NOT preview SEC cards.

Let's compare:
A non-SEC card, notice the Slide out and the Details Both Have clickable features to add a preview or a favorite

A SEC card, by deliberate design, Does Not have clickable features.

It is not a mistake, or some side effect
It is intentional by Design.

Watch this Video
http://wyldanimal.com/videos/No-SEC-Preview-By-Design.mp4

It easier to show by video, than to try to explain it.

But I doubt many Members know, you can add a card to your preview list by ***** and Dropping it from the Details View.

So in the video I demonstraight How you add a card to your Previews using ***** and Drop.
I show, I have no previews...
I click on a card I do not own in the store, it's slide out opens
I click on Details
From the Details view, I can ***** and Drop the Card to the Next or Now playing, and that Add's it to my list of previews.
I show this again..
Now I have Two Previews on my Preview list, both Added by ***** and Drop.

Now Let's do it with an SEC card.
What? It doesn't get added...
This is by Design, you can not add an SEC card, not even by ***** and Drop.

So it is not just some side effect.
It is Blocked by Design.

I did not say that it was a mistake, I am, and was, aware of the feature that you are talking about.

There is no doubt that not having previews available for SECs was a deliberate decision. What I was talking about is the reason why that decision had been made and at what point it was made, not whether it had been made. The scenario I gave is one possibility. I suspect that it was just simpler to do it that way rather than only block them for preview pushes.

P.S. Il y a des .exe et/ou .dll qu'il ne faut pas trop approcher.😆

Over the period of November or December 2018, whatever, iStripper asked us to update our app in order to fix some -so called- software functioning issues. I updated my desktop and from that moment on: I could no longer see the demo clips of SECs for Alyssia Kent's "Splurging" but also Olivia Sin's "Happy New Year".
Having understood the firm's censorship trick, I didn't update my travel laptop for several months and was thus able to continue viewing the miss's magnificent "Splurging".
P.S. There are .exe and/or .dll files that you should not get too close to 😆

Pour moi, ce n'est pas de la censure mais la politique commerciale de Totem.

For me, it's not censorship but the way of business of Totem.

OK, that ties down when the decision it made though in the words you highlighted I was more particularly thinking about which point in the software requirements/design/implementation development cycle the decision was made rather than at what time it was made.

I still do not think the top level decision was to prevent us seeing the previews but rather to prevent some particular use of them which was most easily acccomplished by blocking all uses - i.e. a deliberate and foreseen side effect of a design decision or, possibly, an unforeseen side effect of a decision made later during implementation.

Of course the cause is commercial but that's not the point. Censorship is only the consequence 😆

When on Wednesday I can see the previews of an SEC in order to be encouraged to play and the next day I can't see the previews of said SEC, well I call that censorship and nothing else. And to get back to the point of this thread: what is the point of preview clips if they are not viewable in the context of teasing in the sublime world of the Olympic Games at iStripper?

The preview clip is an invariant concerning the cards to be sold and those to be won. Except that here the preview system is completely biased.

@Sexy3DBoy

This is getting silly. The point I was making is that the decision to block all uses of the preview clips prior to purchase could have been made as a deliberate policy by the management and the development team then had to do it (in which case it was a requirement) or the requirement may have been a weaker one but it was decided to do it that way anyway (in which case it was a design stage or implementation stage decision) rather than a requirement.

If the decision was one of basic policy for SECs then it is less likely to change than if it was a pragmatic one made later relating to how things are programmed.

Even the most informal software development (which the iStripper development is not) has at least the three stages of requirements, design and implementation - even if it is only a single person writing a very small program for their own use he or she will ask themselves "what do I want the program to do" (requirements), "how should it do it" (design) and "what code do I need to write for it to do that" (implementation).

Typical - you forgot the fourth stage - testing to ensure that the code met the requirements.

I spent damned near 40 years in IT fighting that battle!

No I did not forget it, I just didn't mention it. I said that there are always at least the three phases I mentioned - this being almost obvious to almost everyone, when pointed out, even for trivial cases such as

print "Hello world!"

It is less clear that there should always be a separate test phase - testing should be part of all the phases - though it is clear that it should be done and often there will be two or more phases dedicated to testing.

I also have spent about 40 years struggling to get the importance of testing properly acknowledged - mostly to get that importance recognised as part of the requirements phases rather than as an "add-on" extra phase at the end. Ironically, considering Sexy3DBoy's NASA comment, this was mostly in respect to ESA and NASA projects and they were both quite poor at it compared with what I had been used to previously.

During that time I have also struggled to get the importance of putting extra effort into the very early phases - those that precede the software requirements phase - in order to determine what the real user requirements are rather than what they say they are (unfortunately that requires extra work from the users which is hard to get). All too often the user requirements we got were rather vague.

Interesting analysis gentlemen, but we are now far from the original topic. And why we cannot see the previews of the SEC, only Totem has the answer. So, I propose to wait and see if the team will write a response to that point.

We're way off the original topic, but I can't help chiming in. This has been a hot issue for me for about the same length of time. I'd phrase it a bit differently. Instead of testing, I prefer to talk about Quality Assurance. Testing is a form of Quality Control and Quality Control is part of Quality Assurance. The Six Sigma community believes that with enough quality assurance at the front end you can eliminate testing at the back. Although I don't buy that completely they have a point.

I have been convinced for a long time that testing is an inefficiently use of quality resources. I think peer reviews of requirements and designs are much more effective for finding significant problems. These days I do mostly enterprise level requirements work. From personal experience, the quality of my work products is directly proportional to the amount of peer reviews I can get from my collegues. I also know that the most significant problems I've detected in other people's work has been from review of their designs.

Here is a favorite quote of mine from Componsit/Structure Design by Glenford Myers, 1978, page 2:

"Programmers spend the majority of their time correcting their mistakes.

"Moreover they never finish. Examinations of typical programming projects will show that, over the dduration of the project, programmers spend over 50% of their working hours looking for and correcting their mistakes. The usual "solution" to this is remarkable. We try to solve the problem by rushing through the design process so that enough time is left at the end of the project to uncover the errors the were made because we rushed through the design process."

40+ years later and we still work this way.

As far as I am concerned "the topic" is whatever the users are discussing irrespective of what the original title of the thread may be. It should not be up to any individual to decide to shut down a thread becaise they think it has wandered.

In my first post, I just related that on the end of 2018, the SECs were arriving on the carousel and that you could only download the demos there. And that in the wake (a few days maybe) there was to be a software update recommended by iStripper. And that following this upgrade of the application NO MORE SEC PREVIEW!!! The show was over.

Just between us:
Who cares about the development phases of the software, they just adapted their code to make it block SECs at the carousel and preview level, full stop. And the genesis of all this is purely commercial.

P.S.
Personally, I respect iStripper's private business with its rules of operation, but here blocking previews, I find it "NOT GOOD AT ALL".😆

@cxsn , @HansSachs , me and others just want to know the reason why no previews for SECs on the app - that's all. Not interested at all in the chat about testing - should start a new thread for that if there is more to say.
