Imho, where women in porn are concerned, even a poor actress can make it look real, if it is real. No acting ability required.

Otherwise, she's gotta be pretty convincing to make it seem like anything other than fake if she isn't actually enjoying it.

Unfortunately, I think the ratio of girls who are really into it and actually get aroused versus the ones doing it for the payday is pretty lopsided towards the payday but I wouldn't know first hand.

Yeah but how does one know their full potential until they try something new? Saying that it depends on the performer's current "acting ability" insinuates that said performer cannot perform beyond some imagined limits?? Sexual arousal may be a good performance motivator but what is sexual arousal without a driven heart???

As an actress the model would surely try to do justice to the job to make it look as close to real as possible but real is real and it indeed in better than best performance because then is it pleasure not performance.

I'm a male, obviously but to me, a good indicator at times is if a girl's nipples harden and grow a little during a clip. Could be just a cool blast of air from a fan of course but it seems real enough when I see it ;)
