I'm not sure about Mac but there should be a folder somewhere that has a collection of programs that load up automatically, with WIn it's called a Startup folder, find the similar
folder on the Mac and move the VGHD program out of it and place it somewhere you can get to it. so you can decide when it is to load up.

Does the Mac version not have a 'Start at Boot' option that you an untick on the Settings/Advanced tab? Seems the easier way to do it to me, as then the software usually remembers this setting and doesn't reinstate it when you upgrade to a new version.

The Mac does have a "Start at Boot" option in the Advanced Setting tab. I think that works now.

At one time it was necessary to remove a file from the application's package. It's been over a year since I did this, so my memory may be off. If you right click on the VG app in the applications folder, the second item from the top is "Show Package Contents". Click on that. You should now see a folder titled "Contents". Open it. Now open the "Library" folder. In that you will find a "LoginItems" folder. I think you will find a start-up App. Try moving it to your desktop and rebooting the Mac. See if that works. If it doesn't, put it back. If it works, you can trash it or put it in some other folder for safekeeping.

I kind of figured they did since I've never had anything Apple I wasn't for sure what the file was called.

I have nothing against Apple or Mac software. When I was looking at buying my first serious computer in the mid to late 90's, I bought a few magazines to help me decide which way to go. At the time, they all said that the Mac OS was superior to Windows but Windows had better support from third party vendors.

I guess it was the same story with the old VHS versus BetaMax Video tape systems. The better quality systems lost out to better advertising :(

It doesn't seem to have changed much in the last 20 years or so... Funny thing is, one of the first programs I downloaded in 1998, just after I first went online, was Apple Quicktime. It was so I could view a certain sample videoclip made by the late, J Stephen Hicks! Does that mean that Quicktime was/is the preferred choice of all porn providers? Hmmm...

In the late 1980's I lost a lot of money trying to sell a Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tool for the Mac. It was my own creation. At that time business community did not consider the Mac to be a serious computer. Unfortunately perceptions trump technology time after time.

For a long time the Mac has dominated the photo market both still and videos. Totem uses Mac for post production. A lot of porn producers do also, but so do most advertising agencies. I think this is a market were the Macs capabilities were so dominant that developers made it their primary platform because most of their customers used Macs. Windows has narrowed the performance gap in this area, but the Mac is still perceived as the "right" choice for photographers and video producers.

I bought my first Mac in 1985 because it offered graphics capabilities that were not present in the PC. I didn't but the first IBM PC when it came out because it had segmented memory and I'd spent 4 years working with VAX's and learning how troublesome that could be.

As for my problem, it was solved by not only unchecking something like "always start inactive", but ALSO "automatically download demos". Sorry if these are not the correct English terms, I can't get my VirtuaGirls speak English instead of French :-)
