First question is simple: all else being equal, how long do the demos stay on the carousel before they get replaced?

Second question: I keep seeing the same cards on the carousel over and over again. On the whole, the reason they're on the carousel is because I have no interest in them - so why can't I get rid of them? An option to say "I'm not interested in this card, take it away from my carousel for three months" or something would be very useful.

Third question: the downloaded demos take up lots of space. Is there any simple way to purge expired and/or purchased demos? If there isn't, could there be in a future build?

Third question:
This may or may not be easy for you (it is easy for me). Go to the location of your Models folder (the one that contains all of the animation files (both demo and full show). Then search for all files ending in .demo. (.demo) No need to press enter.

Please view the small screenshot. In the upper right corner of the picture you will see the search characters. Type in the exact same characters and you will find results like those of the screenshot.







edit: forgot to say to delete the files (ONLY the .demo files)

Some user's demos don't work properly because of a bug, we're working on it. Next major version will include management of the space used by demos as well.

Ah, a specific suffix for the demos! Excellent, that makes things easier, thanks. (Would still be nice to have that function within the application, to delete expired and unwanted demos without risking deleting current and downloading ones. A suggestion for a future build, perhaps?)

Totem please give us, for example, more of the newest cards, no again and again older ones!

And by the way, i want back the menu option "dont play clip again"!

Agreed, if I haven't bought a specific demo on the 3rd try, chances are I will never buy the show. Please give me something else.

Okay, no answer so long. Then I must exemplify, what I mean.

I got in the last months only demos of old cards, for example Carla Pacini, Jana H, Demi and so on. Nothing against these girls, but I can not understand where are the newer ones (Alice Saint, Rebeka, Kari and so on)?

Look at my collection, I have enough older cards and I will not longer buy more credits till this occurences by the demos changes. And I will not pay 2 credits for a card, which I have to delete, because I did not see a reasonable preview. The little flash-bars on the homepage are of little value.

It's been made very clear many times over that the demo carousel is a work in progress and has some bugs. It's been that way all along. Rex posted in this very topic above that they are working on making it right. I don't think it's been on the top of their priority list but they are trying to fix it. Eventually, it will work properly.

Even something as simple as a "Do not show again" option would be a vast improvement, particularly if it also deletes the downloaded demo files for that card.

Are we going to get any update on this issue?

I agree getting the same demos over and over again,will not encourage one to buy, however much you plug them. It's like watching the same advert plugged over and over on the television, you just get sick of it.
I may be being cynical here, but could the reason for this be that the demos are 1 credit. The chances are that if you fancy a card, you'll go to the Webb site to check out others that the performer has done and and if you do that it will generally cost 2 Credits, to get the card.
There are 1102 cards at the time of this posting and a very very small fraction of them go into demos.
It's another way to get us to use our credits and then buy more, loads of money in the bank getting interest, while for use it's dead money. If all the cards were put on the demos and you had the Patience to wait for the one you want to come up, you'd have twice as many cards for half the price.
Bad business practice.

This seemed to be the thread most similar to my question so I'm posting this here.
I have also noticed getting the same demo over and over, and I know there are cards I have never seen on the demo wheel. Is there a percentage of cards that are never demoed? I know I could buy them directly for twice as much, but I am already a little conflicted about how much I spend on this and there is no way I'm going to pay double.

I don't know what are the percentage, but I know for sure that demo cards are not random and don't even come in a random order.

The first pic I posted here is from about 3 months ago, when Ennie Paris's x factor card came out.
The second pic is from just now...
See anything different? It's pretty much the same demo again, maybe with a few difference, and the new cards of the week.
I bet that if I was to write it on paper, I could predict in advance which demo cards I'm gonna get when these cards come back again in a month or two.

Anyway, I think Totem is going to change their promotions soon. They probably won't have anything to do with the demo carousel anymore. I'm personally looking forward to it since this demo thing has been boring for a long time now!

How It was Explained to me:

totem has a master List, of Random Cards created back when the Carousel was created..
then as new cards are published they get added to the list..

Each member starts out at Spot One on the List..
you get a selection of Cards that you Don't Already own, but selected in order from that master list..

Your Spot / location on the List is saved, and then new cards are again selected off the list from the last location you were at..

a Corrupt file or deleted file, can cause you to get stuck, or start over again on the list..

Once you reach the end of the list, it repeats.

This is why, when you See a Card that you Have already seen, the list of cards will be Similar to as they weer the first time you Saw them..

Cards you don't own, selected from a master randomized list.


I don't know if that is how it still works, or Not, but that is what was explained to me when it first went into use.

It usually takes me about two months to reach the end of my "list", I don't know if it's normal or not. Sometime I see a few new faces pop up, but it's usually pretty much the same.

I deleted a lot of folders with demos 2 weeks ago and now i am having the same cards again but in a White tone and in the list of downloads it doesnt appear new cards nor the old ones i deleted, they Just appear automatically in the carousel. Please, any advice?

Note ; i have changed the color of the skin of the program, but how can I change the desing of the card? @Astaroth999 has a different style of card and sorry if this is not the right place to ask.

If you're interested in different card sets .. you may want to search in artwork threads for Replacement cards .. some members make them.

Perhaps I didn't get it right, but .. If the girls appear grayed out on the carousel (not colored) .. means animations are missing (not downloaded), but the picture cards of the very same models are still there, in Data folder .. and as software selects girls for the carousel randomly from data .. so these deleted demos keep coming up.

If the models are just in white tone, means they are not active, just tick the box below the girl (Activate).

If you do not want to get demos automatically downloaded anymore, keep these boxes in Advanced settings for automatic downloads unmarked. Then you can download those you want manually from the carousel.

The card set I use are from CyberVixen's website. But sadly, I think this site is down now (been a while since I checked), so I don't think these specific cards set are available anymore.

Thanks, but no I did not really have a problem with that. My demos are just set not to be downloaded automatically. I do not delete them anymore. I did on my old computer to save space though.
