to be honest ... if they dont understand the large print words NEW BETA, i suspect they will probably just click the install button anyway and ignore any warnings

From some of the posts here it seems that a significant proportion of users do not understand the word "beta" when applied to a software release and think they are just getting the latest newest, greatest, and best version. Such users need to be actively informed of what they are doing. If nothing else we can then say "you were warned" rather than having to explain a technical term.

The auto-update of the Beta is and will remain for the Beta versions only.
And nobody will be ***** to move to the Beta...
Only the "Beta to newer Beta" will be automated

Fair enough - but please allow us to delay the update even if that means we can't run the program at all, even the old beta, until we are ready for it. I my case I was very unhappy on having it happen because you can have no idea what else I was running at the time of the update.

This is the point that I was trying to make on the discord forum last Saturday.
When I ran istripper last Friday to get the latest SEC a message popped up on my computer screen about this beta suggesting that I "Check It Out".
The tone and format of this message was similar to the one used when I need to do a compulsory update to the latest version.

Excellent! Thank you.
This is plenty good enough for me.

I agree entirely with @peterbanker on this. I don't use Discord so I didn't see the post he talks about which encourages us to "Check It Out" but it sounds like it was not very informative to naive users as to just what they were being encouraged to do.

I have found that it is a common failing of developers (almost all developers, not just Totem's) to assume that their users understand more about software and software development than they typically do. Exposing users to such terms as "beta version" without explicit, clear, and very visible explanations of their meanings and of the possible consequences is a bad thing.

Regarding the drop-down menu in the top righthand corner of the GUI.

I find it odd to have this menu in this position - in almost every other program that I have ever seen menus such as this have been located in the top left, not the top right. It seems strange not to fllow what can be regarded as established practice in this matter and put it where it would be expected. However, I did quickly get used to its unusual position.

Also, could you please add Quit or Exit to this menu. Again this would be in line with normal practice. I know that Quit is available via the systray icon but there are two, *****, problems with that being the only way to shut down the program

1 - As we have seen from previous discussions not everybody thinks to look there.

2 - The systray icon is not always immediately visible as it may be among the icons in the systray overflow area.

@TheEmu

It gets worse.
Just discovered this.
If you go to the istripper landing page https://www.istripper.com/ the version that new members will be downloading is the current beta 1.2.512

When I first joined VGHD as it was then, if I had downloaded a version riddled with bugs/problems I would not have become a long term member.

It gets worse.

I agree. I was shocked at seeing @Celine 's latest posts. If it's a beta version then it should not be treated as a release version, and if it's a release version it should not be called a beta.

First I would like to thank @wyldanimal for the links to the videos that he has made.
Very informative.

Second I would like to thank all the beta testers for the time that you spend in testing these versions so that when I download a release it does not have any bugs. (or very few bugs)

I am not impressed by the layout of this beta though I realise that when Totem have a final version ready for release I will have to get used to it.

Ah. Well, handing out the beta to new subscribers looks like a bold move even to me! Especially with the automatic updates intact. We'll see how that works out. To be fair, for most users the current .512 version is pretty solid. I have been running it all week and all the basic functions- buying cards, creating playlists, running playlists, the store, disabling and reenabling the program- all seem to be running just fine. No crashes, no obvious bugs (other than the exciting interaction between existing playlists and later deleted cards), nothing like that.

And at least at 4K, the improved collection display is beautiful, and the legibility improvements for playlists are very nice too. I have very little motivation to go back to .378. I even like the new home page.

And it's clear that Totem certainly has faith that it is a solid release. So I expect that it will go live very soon.

build support for lovense toys...

Physically cannot happen - lovense toys are interactive and hence the person with the app and the person with the toy have to be synched up AT THE SAME TIME.

Our shows are all recorded in a studio so what you are seeing was filmed days if not even months ago.

Same here. But please, Team, give us back a slider for personal resize of cards on Strore and Collection.

If you go to the istripper landing page https://www.istripper.com/ the version that new members will be downloading is the current beta 1.2.512
I understand Totem wants new layout to become a standard as soon as possible. I understand less, and personally don't like, such a rushed approach in its implementation. Giving to new users a potentially unstable software could not look to me a good move in any way.

Moreover: I now use 1.2.378 version, and if I check the update button on Settings page it says my version is up-to-date - while, on iStripper site, only the new "beta"(?) version 1.2.512 is now available to download. So, we have a contradiction.
Which one is the actual "current version" at the moment?

New version coming that fixes the old Windows issue on Tuesday according to Guillaume in Discord. Also, if you are running older windows right now it is detected and you are offered .378 on istriper.com, not .512

I am looking forward to the new version very much, it will fix one of my specific issues!

I should of learned from past betas with this company. and I will leave it for others as the software is rushed out with bugs every timeto all that simply criticize beta software issues... it seems you have no experience of software testing/debugging.Totem may have 6 or so people available to test software .. so it could take many months to find and resolve any bugs. Instead, they offer a beta test version to those members that want to help (it is not 'rushed out with bugs'). Now with hundreds of people testing and reporting bugs, the product will mature faster for release. Please don't just criticize beta software... help if you can ... avoid if you can't
I still test from other developers with no problem and have beta tested for many others over the years. I just think its rushed without more of an attempt to fish out the bugs before realeasing it. I myself have crashing problems with the software and its worse with this beta and that comes after them adding a crash reporter to the software and my problem still is not fixed. I mean come on I can play gta 5 or any game I want for hours but running this for an hour I risk a chance any time it will crash lol. I get though get a better computer that should work.

@eline posted

The auto-update of the Beta is and will remain for the Beta versions only.

Someone else then posted

@celine Version 1.2.512 is the stable version which we can download from the website's home page. There's some mistake here ?

To whch @Wyldanimal replied

The version 1.2.512 / 513 is now the Official Release version, It is no Longer Beta.

Though it was only available via the website and not via the app's built-in check for update/update function on the settings page.

And today I had an auto-update from 1.2.512 (said to be "offical"/not beta) to 1.2.514 - so the situation as to the status of the releases is now as clear as mud. Please, please, please clarify what is is a Beta and what is an official release.

Oh, and after an auto-update it would be really helpful to know what had been changed in the new version. Providing that information would also probably improve the feedback we provide as we could immediately check if those changes had had any adverse effects instead of stubling over them at some unknown, possibly distant. time in the future.

Dear All,

The IT team has been faster than me :-P They put version 514 online and because you had the 512, you got the auto-update.
Here are the improvements in this new version, based on your feedbacks :
  • an option to sort by Release Date in the Collection has been added,
  • Playlist is back on the Full Screen page + its state is now saved and restored between pages that display it,
  • The default size of the application has changed,
  • the icons in the dropdown menu have been moved to the right side,
  • an option to activate a slider for the cards size has been added to the advanced settings,
  • The header now takes skins into account,
  • The volume setting now affects the full screen volume,
  • The crash at startup on versions lower than Windows 8.1 has been solved,
  • The cards state is now saved as soon as it changes and is correctly restored at the next launch,
  • The card images in playlist are now grey again when not downloaded yet,
  • The crash when downloading too many previews has been solved.

Hello TheEmu

I hear you!

To be as clear as possible, istripper 1.2.512 (and subsequent versions) is a beta. This means we'll iterate quickly, taking into account your feedbacks on features and bugs.

However, we have decided to make this version available to all in order to collect as much as possible datas from our new users.

The version 1.2.378 will remains available to download and you can return to it whenever you like :)

I hope I've clarified things for you.

Cheers.

Little bit of a nusaince with the autoinstall. You have to manually ***** off the running istripper or the setup fails.

I think that is a mistake - at least in the way that it has been done. If someone like @WyldAnimal can be ***** as to whether it was a beta or an offical release then what chance do naive, non-software developer savvy, users stand of understanding that there may be problems with it.

The version 1.2.378 will remains available to download

Where from ? It's not on the web site's front page which has 1.2.5.14 - is it hidden away elsewhere ? Giving brand new users a beta release is not, in my opinion, a good idea.

With version 1.2.5.14 toggling between Cards View and Thumbnail View resets the Sort By and Order By options so I have to manually put them back to my preferred settings, Date Of Purchase and Descending, each time I change the basic view.

I only see one icon in that menu, that for Feedback. Should I be seeing more or will the other menu items be given icons in a later version.

an option to activate a slider for the cards size has been added to the advanced settings,

Thank you. Though, as I mentioned in a previous post, I still can see use cases for both more cards per line and for as few as 1 card per line.

Also, I can not install it on my laptop. Norton antivirus really ***** your installer. I tried turning off protection and still can't get past the antivirus. I don't have time to fight this right now.

I do not recall seeing anything mentioning about changing the "_custom.jpg" images.
Most of them for the SECs are now fully visible again.
The custom images are still there.
The problem is that the app overwrote each and every one of these (only those that were 'seen' by the app).
How is this possible? Why is this allowed?
I better not search for Viola or her cards will also be fully visible. I really do not want to see her.

(the one good thing, so far, is that I was able to install this version)
