Totem appears to have changed the city of "Kiev" to that of "Kyiv" in the GUI.
But not in the xml files.

And "Kiev" has crept back in with Aimee Rox and Erin Pink.

Why the completely unnecessary change?

Because Totem is totally incosistent in labeling cards.
If you look at the only 5 Germany girls we have, three of them are from Köln/Cologne.
Anny Aurora says Cologne and Kayla and Shabba say Koln.
And even that they wrote wrong, it is Köln, not Koln.
Team should change all three to Köln, because that is the correct german name of the city.

Firstly I was speaking of how a particular set of Gemans refer to their city - namely those that actually live there.

Secondly, I am not a German and I have no idea why you thought I was, However, I did live there for more than half of my life.

Thirdly, I am in favour of the usage being consistant. But in many cases there is no single "correct" name. Some, like Cologne/Köln, London/Londres have at least two depending on the language being used (Munich has at least three).

Totem seem to tend use the "English" name for cities. e.g. Prague and Rome, I don't know if the same is true for the names used for the models's country, but I think it is.

My point was, and still is, that the choice of name is not as simple a matter as may first be thought.

I have to admit, this mania for referring to foreign cities only in a newly "correct" manner instead of the traditional one seems very strange to me. The CORRECT name is Київ. Every major language I am familiar with does not use the actual country names or city names for foreign places but some equivalent in their own language which they find easily pronounceable. German does this for EVERYTHING.

In my opinion anyone with the bad taste to be using a Cyrillic alphabet has little justification in whining about how other languages attempt to pronounce or write their names!

Hmmm... Political correctness seems to still be pervading everything. Off the top of my head, I can't think of a reason why Spanish people call the city of Sevilla by it's correct Spanish name while English people still call it Seville... with an 'E'.

Spanish also renames many English/American/Australian or whatever towns and cities when there's a Spanish word for it, eg. Nueva York. Other city names that have no direct translation usually remain as the English spoken version. There are many, odd
examples such as The Netherlands/Holland which most Spanish refer to as Hollanda OR Los Paises Bajos (The Low Countries).

I guess most of us will get annoyed when someone doesn't call a country/city/town by it's commonly accepted name. There are worse problems to deal with in this world. Personally, I don't give a flying Kozf what people choose to call something as long as we all understand what it is. Peace... 😊

That is a particularly special case. Brits also tend to refer to the country as Holland even though that name should actually only apply to a small part of it namely the provinces of North Holland and South Holland - there are 10 other provinces of roughly equal size. It is a larger error than using England when referring to the UK - something that is common, for example, in Germany (and, unfortunately, some Brits).

With respect to Kiev/Kyiv - it seems to me that the English speaking mass media (radio/TV/Newspapers) have only quite recently switched to the Kyiv form having persisted with Kiev for many years after the split from Russia.

What does the word blent mean?

I quickly checked if blenting existed by Googling it and all checks came back as, 'blending.' Now it appears that , 'to blent' is an ancient English term that means to blend.

The funny thing is, what I casually thought I had off-handedly created actually fits perfectly for my new form of space travel. I won't go into details here about my next comic but it involves travelling 250 light years in an instant and there's NO wormhole involved.

All city names should be written in English as this is the default language of the application. The same applies to the names of the countries the models come from, so why should it be different with the names of the cities?

Honestly, I have no idea which form of translation is correct. Google translate suggests the form "Kyiv", but other dictionaries report both as correct (both "Kiev" and "Kyiv"). Nevertheless, if one form is used in one case, it should be applied consistently for other cases.

How about this? The city of Warsaw is the capital of Poland. We only have four models from Poland, and the name of the city of Warsaw appears in three forms!

If the name "Kyiv" should be written as "Kiyv" just because it is a correct name in Ukrainian, then the name "Warsaw" should be changed to "Warszawa" as it is the correct form in Polish.

If I remember correctly, the shift from Kiev to Kyiv was requested by members at the start of the invasion of the Ukraine as a sign of solidarity with the Ukrainians.

This is why only this one has changed - and the reason we have Kiev and Kyiv is because the change is done manually and we have missed a few 😊

I see opinions are different in this case.

According with Google Translate , I translated from romanian language to english and result was KYIV.
In romanian language we say Kiev and we pronounce Kiev too, like it is heard.

In normal condition,my opinion is Totem should use english for all countries and cities, BUT in sign of respect of what`s going on these days in Ukraine ( the war against invaders), Totem should use ukrainian language for all cities of Ukraine.

This is just a suggestion!!
