Status of resolution upgrades from 720p to 1080p?

I haven't noticed any resolution upgrades from 720p to 1080p in long time. Can we expect that these upgrades will continue or have they completely ended?

UHD monitors are of course getting more popular all the time so it's clear that resolution upgrading to 1080p will turn unprofitable at some point but I'm hoping that we're not yet past that point.

It depends on the camera equipment used to shoot them but some as far back as 2010 have been re-mastered using original footage at 1080p cards. they seem to start around the mid to late a0600 range.

goldiecharleston,
Please view screenshot.
I took a screenshot of my collection (no previews downloaded), with filters showing.
None of my cards have been downloaded in a higher resolution; all cards downloaded are in 720p, except vg classics. I do not have any other version downloaded, except 480p, and none are marked as deleted.
Olga Barz - Jungle Queen (card a0655) is the smallest card number to be upgraded from 720p to 1080p.
  • always show: off
  • Content type: full
  • Activation: disabled and enabled
  • Downloads: downloaded and not downloaded
  • Collections: all collections
  • Selected resolutions: 720p
  • Quality max.: full hd and uhd
One hundred seventy (170) cards in my collection.
I am not sure why only six of these cards have the tag 'update'.

the six may have newer clips on the server than your local copies, as for the rest I presume they are current.

My earliest re-mastered card is Melisa's Butter Cup (a0689). I have 1080p copies on my PC and 720p on my notebook with a 1366x768 screen

I'd lilke to suggest to Totem that remastering 720p to 1080p may be more profitable than remastering 1080p to UHD. This is because 720p cards are effectively unplayable on larger montors while 1080p cards can be played as-is.

Current?
The cards in my above pic (and lots of others) are downloaded in 720p version. They are also available in 1080p version. I do not have any cards downloaded in 1080p or higher.

by current I mean the latest version of the clips in 720p. when they re-mastered them for 1080p they also tweaked the colours and contrast of the 720p clips for the same cards.

@JonC001 I don't understand what you're ***** about. If they are available in 1080p, why don't you download them. If they always download in 720p, it might be because your default resolution is set to 720p in settings, instead of 1080p or UHD. It probably doesn't notify upgrades because of your default resolution being lower than the upgrade.

There won't be any new resolution upgrades from 720p to 1024. We're now focusing on republishing HD cards using the new post production chain, to deliver them with better colors, lights and in all resolutions, including UHD.

Are you still updating 1080s to UHD? and is there a list somewhere of some/all the updates you have done? Do you have a list of future updates?
Thank you, Totem. Still a good product. I have second, smaller screen just running dancing women.

Can Totem, provide an update on resolution update plans, I have ahigh res Imac and own all the high res shows, but as a member from day 1 I also have hundreds of 1080p, 720 and even a few 480 cards, great shows but look terable on todays high res displays. I have always supported Totem but have even started to miss out on promotions as I own most or all of the cards on offer. Totem could generate significant revenue by remastering the 1080, 720 and if possible 480 shows, I would gladly pay a small fee to upgrade already owned cards to higher resolution (perhaps start by date and work backwards).
If resultion updates are still being done can we have a shecdule of which cards are being done.

I agree with @ukdazza. I own a great many 720p cards, but seldom play them. I would pay to upgrade them to 1080p. I suggest that half the price difference between medium quality and high quality shows would be appropriate when a medium quality (720p) card is upgraded to high quality (1080p). That way I get a bargain for having bought the card while it was just medium quality and Totem additional income for the work of remastering it. In some cases, I'd be willing to pay the entire difference in price between medium quality and high quality.

Seconded. (Thirded?) I've just upgraded to a new laptop, and the 720p cards are noticeably lo-res now. I'm not going to re-download most of them, which leaves me feeling like I've lost something I paid for. I'm certainly never going to buy any further ones. But I would pay something to upgrade a number of my old favourites, if that was what it took to make it worth Totem's time.

We've decided to still remaster some older card (720 > 1080 & 1080 > 3K). I've posted a dedicated thread few weeks ago with wishlists. We will start by the most popular cards. They will be available to download by packages (instead of one by one). It's a very long process that takes time. 1080>3K remastered cards will be more numerous first than 720>1080. Keep in mind that, as already said, 720 cards can't get a 3K definition as they were not shot in this def.

We keep remastering older cards, to give access to 3K for some, and to get optimized colors for all of them. Keep in mind that, as it takes a lot of time, they may not be done in a short time. not pos...

In my opinion, business-wise you do it wrong. 720p cards look outdated, while 1080p cards look fine. So technically you would sell more 720p cards if they were 1080p than 1080p cards if they were 3k.

Yes there are some excellent 720p shows that may sell quicker to new users if they were 1080p. I've added some to my upgrade wishlist, including my favorite Jasmine - Dark Priestess. But models like Carmen Croft, Nina Angel, Eliska, Katia De Lys, and more deserve at least some of there shows being 1080p.

@Nikotem
When you remaster shows do you have the ability to re-edit shows and add content from the origanls recordings?

@Nikotem.
How is the resolution upgrade work going, from the original post they should be due any day.
Do you have the list of what has been done and when they will be available.
You also mentioned that they would be sold in Packs rather than individually, im not sure if this approach is going to work, so if the pack contains 1 or 2 cards that I have in my collection and really like and 8 or so that arnt really my cup of tea, I would have to buy 8 cards at full price that I wouldnt otherwise purchase in order to get the resolution upgrade on 2 cards that I really like (this is going to make it very expensive and not viable, ). I can also see it frustrating and annoying loyal members.
I assume that the price of the packs would be variable based on how many of the cards in the pack you already own in low resolution.
An progress update would be much appreciated.
