The image above are screenshots I took from set of cards first released in 1080p and cards with the new resolution adjustment for 1080p. Playing on software version .84 (Full size @180%, “Reduce clips to screen res” checked)
Images #1-3 are cards in the new 1080p format. If you examine them, you’ll see a lot of aliasing or “pixelation”. Notice specifically the hair and faces. Image #3 Viola’s hair looks like it’s missing in certain areas, Jessie Jazz’s underarm in image #1 looks like a staircase, and Erica Fontes in #2 looks like she was cutout from a piece of paper with pair of scissors.
Now let’s look at images #4-6, cards from the original 1080p format. Every image looks perfect, smooth hairlines, clear facial features, there’s almost zero pixelation. This is the way we should be seeing all cards in 1080p.
I understand there’s already been discussion on the topic of new 1080p resolution but there’s an obvious compromise in quality of the new batch of cards. There seems to be an issue with how the new 1080p cards are scaling up. Is it possible to have the software better process these cards with anti-aliasing so there isn't so much pixelation?
I hope there's something that can be done because the current 1080p standing clips with all the pixelation actually look worse than the old 720p format. I’m passionate on this topic and I hope there’s other users who can also voice their ideas and opinions. Thank you!
