With the release of the last VGHD Awards 2010 skin my little project has come to a close.

When I got the idea for this, I just wanted to know what people really thought about things. I knew the ratings system was flawed by nature and based on threads and comments there were pattens but no clear numbers. I'm a curious guy, so it was inevitable that I try and find these things out.

The VGHD Awards were born when I PM'd a few trusted friends and asked them what they though of the idea. With their encouragement, I sallied forth and opened the idea to the Platinum members. The response was pretty strong, so forward I went.

I was lucky enough to have Starryk volunteer to assist with the count's and quite frankly if it weren't for him I would have given up on the whole thing. It got more than a little frustrating at times. The nominations took a long time to do and a long time to tabulate. At times it felt like two steps forward one step back, but we got through it and at long last the final polls were up.

For me it was never really about who wins or not, but more of an overall feel for the community at large. It's not like we could ever really agree on anything 100% as that's not how a community functions. I will say I got what I wanted and more from this. I've seen shows through fresh eye's and learned to see beyond 'she's hot'. I've made a very good friend in Starryk and spoken to a great deal of members and been impressed with every one of them and their efforts in the community.

So thank you to all who particpated, and a special thank you to my partner in crime Starryk, it was a heck of a ride.

Well now some final words from me. yes it was a lot of work but it was also curiosity that drove me. And the hope to get to know again some very good shows that i had forgotten about. I saw the nominations as a chance to recommend shows to others and to receive recommendations from other members. Due to the difficulties with the nominations(if you took this seriously it took longer than a few minutes) we had not too many members participating. I thank all who did participate in this first phase.
After that it got easier for us to count the votes and for you to vote.
I think it was worth the effort.
Some nice surprises these Awards provided.
To see that Shabba wins Most entertaining category that clearly was one of these.
Or that Karina beat Suzie Q as best dancer or that Chelsea French is the most seductive VGirl. Biggest surprise for me was Marta winning best show. That is an example for a great show i had forgotten about with 700 cards in my collection.
For me personally this award also brought a new friend. Zebrazuk and i have become a great team he supports me with the replacement cards and I support him with his projects. I thank him for coming up with this award I thank him for his support.
See you again for the Member awards 2011:-)

Thanks DMon1981

I forgot to say that the race between Melisa and Morgane for the hottest girl Award proved that although some say they're sick of both girls they are still the most popular within the community. Also a very interesting result of these awards.

Yes it was a great idea. One that has been tried in the past, but not quite so successfully (due a flaw in the poll system at that time which allowed multiple voting by a single member).

So thanks very much to zebrazuk and Starryk for all their efforts.

I doubt very much that the results are definitive though. They give an indication of popularity trends and yet another strong indication that the ratings don't mean very much, but I would bet that if you ran the same nominations and polls again a number of times, the results would be different every time, even if the general trends were similar.

Popularity is transient, particularly when based on little more than personal taste.
