But actually, if anyone is guilty of spam, it's Totem for their weekly new cards thread posted in two languages. What exactly is the point of organizing a ***** weekly ritual of members thanking the company for allowing them to spend money, while other members bitch and moan about how bad that week's releases were?

In point of fact, Totem seems to have no interest in having any sort of vibrant community take place in their forums. What does seem to interest them is having the forums serve as a platform for free member-to-member customer service or cheap market research.

I offered official competition for girls. The Girl-winner receives a rank miss virtuagirl for the whole year. A photo of this girl should be on the most visible places. Besides I do not exclude monetary reward. But for Totem it is too difficult.
In the end of your polls the girl will receive nothing, absolute nothing. About your polls will forget earlier, than you think.

Boorlom - As I said before, my polls were created for people to have fun with them. A "rank miss virtual girl for the whole year"? Ha! Have you seen Morgane? When I came first here, she had 7 cards on the Browse Girl section alone. If Totem started the polls, Morgane would win hands down. Guaranteed. My polls showed that Morgane had some serious competition because I placed her fairly with her own match.

You are trying to make your idea seem worthy and serious simply because you add silly little prizes that the girls could care less about but again, it is all subjective. Monetary rewards are nothing but a paycheck. So relax. Have fun. In the end, your idea and my idea will both be forgotten the next week.

About this thread too will forget. You continue to do the polls. I will continue not to participate in them. All will be as before.

I have spent some time perusing the various threads of the forum during the current hiatus in the polls. It seems that there are some interesting things "out there" but there is a lot of boring stuff plus the never ending repetition of the age old questions, When is the new site going to be ready? and Why doesn't totem have more explicit action on VGirls?, VGuys?,Deskbabes?,VGuys-n-Girls?,VHermaphrodite? and whatever the shitload of sites some members seem to want Totem to produce.
The answer for question #1 has been clearly and concisely answered numerous times by Totem staff, mods and members and this can be easily found by searching the forum threads or reading a few recent threads. However I will save you the time and the answer is - "Yes, the new site will be starting as soon as it is completed and ready."
The 2nd question - "At the present time Totem isn't likely working on any additional new sites or changes in explicitness with current sites."

The moral of my story is:
Please, please @Severin24,, get the polls back up and running again quickly so as to save us having to go out there into the open threads once more and be bored... Your polls were entertaining, interesting, enlightening and best of all fun.

@Severin24, the alternative is that if you do not get the polls up and runnin' I will have no choice but to make you listen to my endless boring stories.

OR, I will go out there and start endless polls on whether you should or should not start up your polls again and again and again,, there got the idea?

OR, (don't dare me,,cuz I would you know) I will go out there and start a poll on each new thread in the entire damn forum as to whether or not it should be shut down or not. Ha, that would be sort of "tit 4 tat" of what some wanted to do with your polls.

Or,, worse still,,, I could start a new poll on giving everyone a choice on all the above choices.

I'm sorry Severin24, but I just can't accept your proposal of one poll a week. Surely once a day is reasonable.

But I am glad you haven't buckled under the pressure. If there is one thing that is worse than people ***** about interesting poll competions, its people who stop a competition half way through.

well Severin24 only said that he will make new polls once a week not how many he wil make. I propose to make 4 or 5 polls each saturday and let them run until the next weekend.
At the moment the 1 poll per user and week restriction isn't active and i don't think it will be before the new website starts. Makes no sense to invest time in 'improving' the old forum if you work on a new one.
Also i think a polls section is much easier to implement than this restriction.

There has already been a desire by the staff of Totem to reign in the amount of polls being posted. Its consuming the Forum and drowning everything else out! If you want to proceed like a bull in a china shop be my guest. This is a business, if they feel these polls are doing more ***** than good, they will end them. You need to find a compromise if you want them to continue. You will not bully your way into getting what you want, again this is a business. Its purpose is to make money. They have thousands of members they must consider, most do not even post but yet still read the Forum for information about their product.

Yes, it's a business. A business that relies largely on the free customer assistance provided by volunteer mods and enthusiastic members present on the forums. And for those members to stay enthusiastic, Totem has to permit a certain amount of "fun" to take place, whether through polling, user artwork, suggesting girls or any of the other threads that don't seem on the surface to contribute tangibly to the bottom line.

So if Totem is not happy that members are actively using the forums they can start implementing restrictions. Then they should probably take out some wanted adds for a 24-7 internet support team.

But I would suggest they tread very lightly. Because as we have seen in the past, alienating a certain portion of your customer base is never good for business.

Virtuagirl has a very loyal following, a lot have been here from the start. Way before there was VGHD. They will be here way after the flybynighters are long gone! You can bet on that!

Thats the point, no one is going to be totally happy. No one will get everything they want! A compromise must be reached so all get some of what they want, but not everything, to keep the Forum workable for all. Totem utilitizes this Forum for the flow of information as well as the enjoyment of the members. When one thing monopolizes the Forum they must act to keep things on an even keel. It will all work out!

Perhaps I missed the part where the forums broke down and stopped working, when the flow stopped and the pipes burst. I do note that the polls were all posted to the "Everything about Girls" forum- where quite a lot is flowing, but none smells like a rose or pretends to be of any import. Or maybe it's written in code that only lifetime members can understand.

Of course, I would only encourage Totem to utilize the forums or website more regularly for stoking the informational pot. The last thread of any import started by Totem was to announce a new software release and that was months back. Given that this company seems to treat informational releases like nocturnal emissions- something rare and vaguely unpleasant that you hope no one notices- I welcome the distraction provided by assorted fly-by-nighters, forum junkies and aspiring Zogbys amidst the barren wasteland of the "What's New" forum.

For a community to succeed everyone must be considerate and respectful towards other members- even people that disagree with you and have different tastes. And post things in moderation.

If I post a poll: "Who wins a jello wrestling match between melissa, morgane, and ariel?" I should wait a few days before I post another round or poll to give casual forum members a chance to read and participate in this. Totem limiting polls would be lame. Police ourselves is the answer. And smile- all these beautiful women are performing and stripping on our desktops while we everquest, work, or check email. good stuff
