On discord (iStripper server), @LisaParadis said these things, in response to such questions:
Wait, don't get *****! The subscription model is only applied to the mobile version, it will not be applied to the web version I can assure you that

There is no possibility
At least not any time soon

Honestly there's no need to speculate or worry about the web version, we are very far from changing it, and we like it as it is.

“At least not anytime soon”. To me this translates to “We may change our business model at any time. And we do not need to honor your purchases, even for desktop. And this is something I will consider.

But as my arguments repeat themselves I think it is best for me to end this topic here.

.But I DID purchase cards on mobile… not all of them, but many. I am not one of those excited people. But be it as it may. You did what you did and I will need to adjust my trust in the invested money accordingly.

you did, but you are a user of iStripper desktop, and the shows purchased thru iStripper mobile Beta ARE in your desktop collection...

Will the same thing happen to desktop? Please clarify this.

When you buy a card Totem have said that you will retain the right to play that card forever, they have not said that about the streaming service.

The iStripper licence (you can see it via link near the bottom of the settings page) does contain text that says that Totem can change the conditions of use, but it also states that such cahnges will not be applied retrospectively. So Totem could change how they sell the cards but could not unilaterally remove your right to play any cards you have previously bought (but this does not apply to the streaming service which has different terms of use).

Here is my opinion as an outsider (never used mobile version and never will)
  • noone can expect it for free of charge, because it is a lot of work to process the shows to that format
HOWEVER
  • for those people who are using the product exclusively on mobile (=purchased the cards there) Totem should give back their collection for free of charge and delete their further computer registraction option (you have possiblity to run your collection on two computers - limit that only to mobile phone for those users who insist to that!)
It shouldn't be that big programming to solve this.
Otherwise since I don't use this on mobile, I don't care, so just an idea how not to disappoint and lose your mobile customers.

I think everyone forgets that they had to Agree to the Mobile BETA Terms

I never read terms .. they all say the same thing. The user has no ownership or rights and the seller does. You can use as many words as you like to say it but its always the same. In the end it is how trust worthy is the company I use Microsoft and Google products. No love for them but at least some trust.

Google recently started charging me for my 'Legacy' email plan; it was free for about 14 years but they decided it was time to start charging for the business plans. I still have several free plans for personal and family use. I was given at least 6 moths advance notice this was coming. It's fair to charge for me for business accounts and generous to allow me to keep personal plans. Hence the trust.

The terms of IS say I own nothing (I haven't actually read them but it's a safe bet); so if they go out of business or change businesses that it's safe to say my 3000 card investment will be gone. I'm not upset or angered by this fact as it's common sense no matter what the terms say. Trying to use the term/EULA/etc as an excuse to take advantage of customers doesn't help the trust.

If you did bother to read the licence then you would find, among other things, that

1 - It does give you rights to download and play the cards

2 - Totem can change the licence, but can not apply those changes retroactively

So, at the very least, you will always have the right to play any cards that you have downloaded.

When is going to be Istripper for desktop a subscrition service?

It has no meaning now to buy shows, I will lose my money.

Blizzard went for a free to play service for overwatch, but they respected all the skins users had preveusly bought. They care about users. Istripper cares only about money, and do not hesitate to rob or disappoint us.

So, at the very least, you will always have the right to play any cards that you have downloaded.

'Always' ?

Well that definitely doesn't sound right or at least certainly very conditional. Mobile only users can no longer play their cards without buying a computer and if you don't have a backup of the removed cards you can't play those so 'Always' doesn't seem like always.

I assume that if Totem shuts down IS (either goes out of business or finds a better business) then IS will play shows for at least as long as its on the same computer. I seriously doubt I will be able to install it on a new computer and continue on. I'm OK with this but it doesn't feel like 'Always' to me. I could be wrong and 'Always' might really mean 'Always' but I'm not counting on it. Even it that was spelled out in the terms then it wont mean much if they are not around to be ***** to comply with 'Always'.

As with some other things (most notably for me the issue with the premium monthly/annual subscription), it is an understandable but also questionable business practice combined with just pretty bad and poor communication, by Totem generally but also some moderators of this forum, especially toward the probably most engaged customer base also writing in the forum.

First, I can generally understand the reasoning behind making the mobile site subscription based, and that this may attract a new and different customer base. However, when the subscription is essentially the price of purchasing three cards a month, I do wonder whether the same customers would not have been equally interested in buying three or more cards a month, when the site itself is generally attractive. Be that as it may, I don't have enough info to make a call here.

Second, though, it should be clear to Totem that this change to a subscription service is a disadvantage to many users who bought a lot of cards and saw the mobile site as a (long awaited) option to play them in this format as well. Instead, it is being sold as this exciting change, and this is just a bit insulting to the intelligence of the customers. The fact that I get, with having purchased over 5000 cards in total, 30 free days, which is basically like a free trial month, is just not that really exciting an offer, I am sorry.

Third, when some of the dissatisfaction and frustration is being voiced here, which is clearly the right forum to do so, instead of receiving any form of acknowledgment that this may not be such a great deal for everybody, but there were a number of things to take into account etc., there is very little of that (mostly silence on the official end) and instead you find moderators (!) who appear to find it necessary to basically berate customers for not having read the terms and services properly and that it was a BETA version all along etc. And that is just such poor communication, it is uncalled for, and again quite insulting (and again echoes the communication failure for the most part around the subscription issue).

I don't think Totem needs to be villified with what they did here, but it would be nice if they acknowledged that this is a mixed-bag at best for, let's say,a substantial number of customers, and that there would be a way and willingness to accept and respond to this criticism without reflexively defending Totem's business practices, even to the extent of being disrespectful to the customers (again, not everyone, but there are posts by some moderators where I don't see much moderating skill, for instance. but then again maybe it should be the team and not the moderators picking up the slack here).

I'm happy to make use of the free days offered. However I won't be subscribing after. At least not continuously. I may however subscribe from time to time. As @Luaszr points out it's like Netflix. It will be very useful every couple months to peruse cards I've been thinking about purchasing to see if I like them before buying for desktop. That I do like.

I have noticed Celine respond to two users separately, and Manue to respond to one (at the beginning).

At most, Celine only says this to us users:
iStripper mobile is not intended to be free for ever... and it has found its audience with mobile only users who are pleased to now have access to ALL our catalog + 3 new releases per week + photos and videos + the VR180 vids soon, for the price of 3 mobile shows
I am sure this is not entirely true, as one member (mobile only user) I above mentioned is not happy with the change.
How many other mobile only users are not happy, even angry about losing their paid cards, and need a subscription just to see anything?

Very good comment @redforleather 😊

Curious, this discussion thread should be one of customer questions, and answers from the Totem team (or so I thought).

Even @Celine starts it off by saying, "We're all ears :)".

And as usual they just listen, don't answer and let the moderators and other customers, who presume the intentions of Totem, answer for them.

There must be a rule somewhere that I haven't read, which should explain this?

Just an observation like that.

@Evolver1980 , you're a desktop user, you have purchased all your shows from the software :) During the Beta phase of iStripper mobile, you had access to all the shows available on mobile at no cost :)

iStripper mobile is not intended to be free for ever... and it has found its audience with mobile only users who are pleased to now have access to ALL our catalog + 3 new releases per week + photos and videos + the VR180 vids soon, for the price of 3 mobile shows...

The problem is that you CHARGED people to buy mobile shows in the "Beta" just to take them away, with 0 warning that this would happen. You also state that the membership is only the cost of 3 mobile shows. WHY ARE YOU CHARGING FOR MOBILE SHOWS AT ALL IF YOUR PLAN WAS TO TAKE THEM AWAY??????? If this was your intention all along you should have never allowed mobile shows to be purchased at all, just viewed if you owned the card on dektop. Your obvious greed and disregard for current users is where you messed up and pissed off a lot of people. I am astonished that you guys didn't think this thru, or maybe you did and just dont care 😐

Sorry for not being able to express my thoughts as smoothly as some users. I'm a doctor. When people die, you have to tell the news to the relatives and for that you receive a training, where they explain to you that you have to be empathic with the patient. You shouldn't say, "I'm so sorry for your loss, BUT life goes on and you have to get over it." It's bullshit, the familiar ***** you. It's called empathy. No buts allowed. "I'm sorry BUT you didn't read the terms." Programming access to the shows that we bought on the cell phone costs nothing. I'm a programmer anyway, if you want I can help you in 5 minutes if you lend me your code. Repay our fidelity. They make more money being nice, than insulting with moderators who are not empathetic. You have enogh money to train your people an make even more money. All ears!!! lot of laughing.

Small precision here.

Let's not blame the moderators.

They do an honorable job. They don't have to be subjected to Totem's decisions, and they have my respect. 😊

It's up to the Totem team to answer customer questions and disappointments, because yes communication on their part is often lacking, when it happens.

you CHARGED people to buy mobile shows

No they did not - they allowed people to buy the same cards as they would in the app or via the main web site. People may have bought them to make use of the streaming system without fully understanding what they were buying, but that is not the same thing at all..

There may well be a valid criticism regarding clarity of what was on offer - but as I have no interrest in streaming the shows I have never looked at the mobile site so I don't know whether this is true or not.

WHY ARE YOU CHARGING FOR MOBILE SHOWS AT ALL IF YOUR PLAN WAS TO TAKE THEM AWAY

Because it costs money to make and stream the mobile versions of the shows.

Among the aspects that the beta version of the site will have been testing are "customer demand" and "how much does it cost to provide the service" together with and "can we increase our a profit by offering the service" . The answer to that last one might well have been "no, it will be detrimental to our profits" resulting in the streaming option being withdrawn completely.

@TheEmu Why don't you let the Totem team answer?

You know very well that it is this lack of response on their part, which aggravates the climate between customers, because the answers must come from the team. That's what clients expect from them.

Totem makes the decisions, it is up to them to assume them and to show that they really care about their customers, if that is what they really want of course.
