Why it takes so long to download photos?

I have a very fast internet connection. I can download a 4k show in about 90 seconds. That's how long it took to download Tina's 1.7GB show this morning.

But my question is about the photo set...a part of the purchase that I feel is overlooked by many. I like to download some of my favorite photos in full size and save them to a file so that I can run a slideshow of these photos. Lately, the download time on the photos has been getting longer. Sometimes I can download a photo in a few seconds, but it often takes 10 seconds or more. This seems to be a very long time for a 1 or 2 mg file. This is true if I download from the GUI or from the internet page.

Do other members have this issue? Am I doing something wrong? No (or few....makes no difference) programs are running. I am not downloading shows while downloading individual photos.

Sometimes or at least not so often i can confirm this.

Yes but it depends mostly on the Serverload of the Targetserver, nothing unusual.
It happens also by myself on Youtube sometimes, even with my fast Connection,
that a Video is not start on the fly, or it is loading to Death.
Here is an actual Speedtest from my Provider Vodafone.
I have a 200 Mbit/s Downloadspeed Contract.

xxx@FF2004:~$ speedtest-cli

Testing upload speed......................................................................................................

Am I doing something wrong?
Nevermind, like i said sometimes the Targetserver has a bad Connection, nothing unusual.
Or how many people using the same Connection/Cable from your ISP at the same Time.
Try it later again, and all should be good.
I have a very fast internet connection.
You can use this Tool > https://www.speedtest.net/apps/cli
to Test your Connection from Time to Time, it's also available for Windows.
or use the Webservice > https://www.speedtest.net/
to always be clear that on your side is all good, more you can't do i think, and patience of course 😉

EDIT: Here is also the Documentation for the speedtest-cli Tool.

@Stanston

My internet speed is not the issue. I have a hard wired connection with speeds between 400 and 500 mg. I can download the shows...large files...quickly. I can download files from other sites quickly. Just photos from I stripper are slow.

@Manue
I have sent the files as requested. Thanks.

Rather than downloading individual photos why don't you download the zip file of all the photos?

You can always delete the photos you don't want but they are all "free". I have all the photos (and videos) of every card I own.

Unless there are server problems the zip files typically download in less than a minute if you aren't downloading anything else. Often mine download in less than 20 seconds.

Well, I feel rather dumb. Your suggestion makes sense. I could download the zip, extract all files, and delete pics I do not want or move favorites to another file. Doing all this (I just tried it) would take less time than picking out individual photos for download.

Still...the question remains...why does it take so long to download individual photos? Downloading the entire zip file of a model took two seconds. Extracting the zip files took one second.

It appears i have an issue with some zip files. Most cards take two maybe three seconds to download a zip file of all photos. I'm trying to download the zip file of Stefania Beauty / Fluff 'n Stuff. It has been several minutes, and the tiny download bar has only progressed about half way. This after I gave up, quit I stripper and tried again...still many minutes. While that file is downloading, I downloaded a different full set...took the usual two seconds.

I have often found that when downloading files from a site (not just iStripper) sometimes one file will download quickly while another is much slower. Often aborting the slow download and restarting it results in a much faster download. It is just one of the oddities of the internet - probably something to do with the use of "cloud" servers and caching of the files somewhere between you and the original source. I suspect that the zip files are downloaded more often than any individual image and are therefore more likely to be cached on a server close to you than any particular single image.

@TallandSlimMan does this happen with specific cards or cards in general ??

Several photosets feature extra large photos.
for example Tina - Princess Bride - e1293 is over 616Mb (4900 x 7300 photos)
compared the more normal 70-80Mb

I just downloaded the photo set for Tina e1293, and it did indeed take longer ( 22 seconds) but not terribly so. My initial post concerned individual photos...no matter how large, one photo should not take 10 seconds to download.

It appears that the team has corrected this as my last few photos took only a second or three to download. Thanks!

Do you think it would be possible to upload higher resolution photos for older sets? For example Victoria Blaze? On 4k screen the 1200x1800 photos looks really bad :/

I am not an expert.
Check the settings. Look to see if your settings include "keep playing previews of purchased clips"

See what that does.
