I was recently informed by a very good authority that DEMO clips can only be labelled as level 1 or level 2. Strange but true.
Check any XXX card with a demo showing more than, well anything, you'll see ;)
Edit: If you think about it, you've probably seen lots of demos in the past where a model's pussy is on show, maybe even briefly.
I'm guessing that the reasoning behind this is that Totem's preview (demo) policy is to show off a little more on occasion but the carousel or demo download will block anything over level 2. So to slip in the odd pussy flash, it has to be labelled as level 2 (topless)…
Anyway, for those that need to only have level 1 (NO nudity) showing in a public area or whatever, that's why it's there :)

I know for a fact that a great many of the iStripperXXX cards from the earlier generations (this was especially the case when duos were king the second or third year or so since the XXX cards' introduction) have demo clips that are accurately classified.
It's not at all clear to me why the functionality would have to change for later collections but not retroactively.
If that is indeed built into the code, it's a terrible functionality idea, as it conflicts with the ability to accurately set the displayed "Levels of eroticism" setting in the Desktop section of the settings (uncheck "Progressive hotness" to activate).

Preview clips are a requirement of how iStipper promotes the cards that are on Sale in the store.
Every card on Sale must have Preview clips.
During shooting of the show, there may not be footage that can be used to create a level 1 preview clip.
So any clip designated as a preview clip with Above Level 1 content will be classified as Level 2, regardless of the actual Level content it might contain.
Level 1 clips are the only level that will not have content above it's level designation.
( there is a Level 0 designation, but no card to date has been released with level 0 clips )
While it doesn't happen often,
there are some preview clips that do exceeded Level 2 Content,
but they can only be classified at most, as level 2.
The Team does it's best to make sure that No Level 1 classified clip, contains content Higher then level 1.
And the Team does it's best to properly classify the other clips to match the Content Level.
But on clips of Level 2 and Higher, it is not as strict.
The Level classifications above level 1,
are approximations of,
what is the Maximum Content level that can be expected to be seen.
The Words assigned to the Levels are just that, a word to to describe what might be in that level.
there are actually, a written set of guidelines that describe what content fits into which level.
and the Guidelines go beyond just that single word.
iStipper could have just called Level 2, Level 2, with no descriptive word..
but it is easier to understand and call it Topless,
even if level 2 encompasses more than just topless nudity.
