Under "My Collection" use the "Always Show" filter and make sure only Updates is ticked, then use the "Activation" filter and untick everything. You will then have only the updates displayed.

For windows 7, open the control panel. Under Appearance and Personalization select Adjust screen resolution.
For a Mac, in the Apple Menu select About This Mac and choose the displays tab. For an older Mac, in the Apple Menu select Preference and Displays.
The right card size for you depends on three things:
1) Display size
2) Hard Disk space
3) Processor speed
Generally speaking you don't want to download cards in a size larger than your display. However, if you have a 1920 X 1080 display and you want to play cards at a scale larger than about 70% a 3K card will look a little better than a 1080p card because 1080p cards must be scaled up when played larger than 70% on a 1080p display.
3K cards are roughly twice the size as 1080p cards. If you have limited disk space and plan to grow your collection, this is an issue to keep in mind.
3K cards have roughly twice the number of pixels to be processed as 1080p cards. If you have a slow computer the 3K cards may appear in slow motion or jerky. This is easy to test, just download one card and see. You can always redownload the same card in a different size.
The above comparison also applies to 1080p vs. 720p.

When a card is upgrated to 3k, is there any quality gain to redownload it at 1080p or will the quality be the same as the old 1080p?
If you don't have Danielle Trixie's Candy Land card, I highly recommend that you use this offer to buy it! A fabulous card, made better by higher resolution!
Thanks, Totem!
As @Wyldanimal says, in all upgraded cards there is a HUGE improvement in the quality of clips on all resolutions, even on 720p!
