Classic 480 cards - Full Screen observation

I've just found that I really like watching the old Classic 480 cards on the 'Perforations' and 'Shadowblob' backgrounds on Full Screen mode. The lower quality of these cards gives a retro feel on these backgrounds and actually enhances the experience of viewing these cards, even on larger sizes. In fact, I now prefer the older classic cards to the higher definition ones on these backgrounds.

This pleases me. It greatly adds to the value of these classic cards, as far as I'm concerned.

Of course, I recognise this is a personal opinion that may not be shared by others. But I thought the observation was interesting.

This post is genuine. It is not intended to be ironic or sarcastic.

If memory serves me, those 2 scenes were designed to actualy denoise and antialias (soften the edges) of the older cards so they look better. Newer cards though they tend to make the image sharpness slightly decrease. But yeah I like how they make old cards better too ;)

Yep. Dano is correct. For that reason, I added @lezardo's antialias shader to all my scenes. Makes everything smoother including older cards :)

Thanks for the background info guys. Looks like it was excellent foresight to include these two backgrounds.

I never really liked these backgrounds before and generally avoided them. I don't really like them for viewing the more recent cards.. For higher quality cards, I prefer the more conventional location themed backgrounds. But I now realise that these two particular backgrounds add great value to the application. Last night I set Full Screen to play on,y 480 Classic cards on these two backgrounds and really enjoyed it. It's like watching 90's girls on a 60's background. It's basically a much more exciting version of the 'Groove is in the Heart' music video. Quite appealing to me.

The older classic cards aren't so suitable if the objective is pure arousel. But they are great for watching some pretty girls strip and dance to a beer, especially as the the girls often dance quite well in these cards. I also love the variety of the costumes. It encourages me to consider investing more in these cards.

Yes sir can't forget the classics that brought alot of us here. There is alot of really old 720p that where converted over from 480p. I play alot of those still. Morgane, Jana H, Jennie Gregg, Axelle Parker, Alizee (no longer for sale), Adriana M, Vicki S and many more. Jezz I'm getting old lol. I only have a few of the original 480p cards after they brought them back from when they weren't supported for a while. Sadly Dorina, Vicki S, Sandy, and Emily are the only ones I have now. Man the flashback of memories here thanks for shareing a old school type thread. I have some old cards to play now have a nice day :)

Indeed, I still love the original VGHD cards. Over the years I have played them many times and am familiar with the shows and models. If I was to pick favourite models and cards, I would still select those that @DAN070 mentions above. Basically because I more familiar with them. Some of the new cards look good, but I am just not so familiar with the models.

Despite the difference in quality, I can still play 720p cards with the more recent high resolution ones on full size. The difference in quality is noticeabl, but bearable. But the difference between 480p cards and current cards is just too jarring.

However, with the two backgrounds I mentioned, the 480p cards become viable. I think it is partly because the background soften the edges. But I also think that the changing psychedelic colours in the background distract my mind from concentrating on the poor quality of the cards. That distraction is irritating for high resolution cards. But I think it enhances the enjoyment of the 480p classic cards
