I wouldn't believe it's over... it'll become like the Maastricht Treaty.
The problem is the wording, "media" could mean the spoken or writen word and everything from still to moving pictures. Complete censorship.
I'm sure they'll just reword it to get the law through.

The one thing we can all learn from History is that we Never learn from History !...
ie. American Prohibition...Deaths from illegalisation of *****...etc...
It's ironic that the UK was the first country to attempt a ban on internet porn...
Mary Whitehouse did more to popularise and inform about where to access porn than any other living person...:)

Technically the wording would include most of the classical sculpture , thousands of paintings and pretty much Every holiday photo taken in a beach resort (no bare skin allowed)

Daft it is

It's that kind of crap that shows why so many Europeans ***** the EU so much. Unemployment in the EU is at an all-time high, the euro is a joke and this is what they think they should be focusing on.

Good thing the language was dropped, but I agree with shodan, they'll be back because that's what politicians do - "fix" nonexistent problems and screw with people's lives and freedoms, rather than address the real problems.

Hopefully the euro will cause the EU to implode.
But as Ambler has said the number of Europeans that ***** the EU is growing every day.
It has now reached such numbers that the politicians do not ask the public their view of certain matters as they are frightened of the answer that they might get.

Thats the thing about porn, its been around since the dawn of mankind. You can go back 10's of thousands of years and find ancient cave painting depicting nude women created by our prehistoric ancestors. There are many "Venus" statues found, ironically, in Europe. VirtuaGirl is simply the latest byproduct of this primal manifestation of desire. The legacy of porn will not go away because a few old bald bastards think they know what is best for us all.

The politicians will never ask anything...
It wasn't very long time ago, when the question about accession to the EU was up in Estonian parliament. Well, our government decided to put this onto a referendum and the introduction of the euro as well.
Majority of citizens voted against..., but what can you see now? We are in EU, using Euro. Because the government decided that the referendum results were only indicative nature and people do not know anything as usual and the politicians know better which would be really good for us.
Damn, if you, guys, look at all these stupid and unfair decisions made by the European Parliament and which ones they're trying to establish as the law, from time to time, I personally have been deeply ashamed that I am a citizen of the European Union.

"The politicians will never ask anything..." You certainly have that right, MrBC. Recently the Canadian federal government tried to quietly slip a bill through that would allow them incredibly heinous controls over what we could see or do on the internet. It was called "Bill C-38". It even would have allowed them access to our private email. Word of this "totalitarian" plot leaked, and the public backlash was so great that Prime Minister Harper and his cronies had to back off, and Bill C-38 is dead. Our reigning party, and the Prime Minister, must have realized that if they secretly slid this bill through and into law they would have been committing political *****.
A non-partisan group called "Leadnow" was formed by citizens concerned about the erosion of our rights under the Conservatives and Prime Minister Harper, and if it wasn't for them keeping a close eye on our current government, we probably would have very few rights left. I myself became an active member of "Leadnow", because I believe that our rights and freedoms should be untouchable by any government that is elected.
Sometimes people MUST stand up against any government that threatens our rights and freedoms...especially in the age of the internet.
