And then some other cards are just... different. Yup, that's Rex. This was meant to be a private joke to him perpetrated by members of the team on april 01, 2008. It was found by accident and posted on May 04, 2008, by arnokan, on tha thread "10 Times Platinum..."

Hum, i never figured out before how many shows i would end up buying here. I realize now that my collection will be over when reaching the 999 card. ;)

VGHD Wallpaper

There was some wallpapers published by Totem for VG2, as you can see up there in this thread. As informed before by jununger, despite that some of those were revamped as VGHD wallpapers, none of them are.

The one showed here is. It was posted by dgedge, on March 19, 2009, in the thread "Ariel - Pink Disco". To my knowledge, it's the only one ever released by Totem as an original for VGH, or at least the only one posted in the forum. If you know of another, please share.

A comic book

Among the many cool things you can find in the User Artwork forum, it's a comic book that was delivered by installments. On December 17, 2008, the user 8thman started the thread "My Comic Book". Posted to entertain the community and get feedback and suggestions, the comic was released sporadically page by page for about a year. The last part was delivered on December 04, 2009. Unluckily, the history is not finished yet, but is certainly worth to look at.

A Marathon... but who won?

On Oct 23, 2008, Rex started the thread "Desktop Picture Marathon", with this picture, asking for screenshots of desktops views with Vgirls on them, that somehow matched the girl with the background.

There was a lot of participants. I were so many posts, and hard to load so many pics, that a second thread had to be opened. "Desktop Picture Marathon - Part 2" was started by jununger on November 16, 2008.

As with all the long threads and the inability of those who can't follow simple instructions, the thread soon started to be more about elaborated compositions than chicks matching nicely with the desktop backgrounds. Nevertheless, some very neat screenshots there.

The last post in the marathon, by MattBFreq3, was placed on Jan 17, 2009. Here it's the pick.

Seems like all the participants forfeited a long time ago, so it's pretty unclear if anybody won or even where was the finish line at all.

Now that i brought this thing back, it might get a second air and some new players. After all, whe have a bunch of other girls and outfits since those early days of 2009.

Excellent non digital art.

On July 14, 2009, in the thread "Is there room here for artists with a paint brush (instead of real artists)?", the user sonofman posted some amazing artworks he made with traditional art methods. If you never saw his works before, take a look by all means. Vgirls never looked so good.

Here just an example of the art posted there, an oil painting depicting Nikky Case. Of course, by sonofman.

An effort for neatness.

On January 31, 2010, in the thread "VGHD Best artwork - a comprehensive thread", by Severin24, the OP asked the community to nominate their favorite artworks to make a somewhat more clearer thread and recognize the effort and talent of the many creators in here. The OP also placed some very restricting rules for posting, so it might had influenced negatively to attract more participation. Still, a good effort to put in the spotlight some amazing pieces that sometimes get lost in the so many forum pages.

Hope to see another effort like this soon. My admiration to all the community artists, back and present. Impossible to name all, but their work is for all to see around the forum.

The pic here is the work of one of the finest artists, imho, in this forum.

Me too! Me too!

For those who want to do their own stuff, there's an sticky thread in the User Artwork forum, called "How to make your own artwork", started by microcyb, with several useful links to tutorials and edition/design programs, many of those are freeware programs. Gimp and Paint.net are very cool and easy to understand. Google for them if you're interested.

And that's it, folks.

As always, my very special thanks for all the time, help and information so generously given to me by Starryk, Cartref, Theo and CyberVixen.

This fantastic piece was created by the most talented and prolific CyberVixen and posted in her thread "my non VGHD art", on January 12, 2010. Sorry about the censure, but the original it's free of this obligated tampering.

Besides her many awesome creations in this forum (skins, cards, wallpapers and many other contributions), she still found the time to make this amazing piece to satisfy my never ending craving for more Denisa K. ;)

@Oquijan.
That's excellent! Thanks for putting it together.
I just want to mention Sonofman. He also started his own website, featuring many of the VGHD girls in his paintings. Hopefully he'll return to see this thread. I'm sure he'd appreciate the mention!

Oquijan,
My friend, you missed one of the very important and appreciated ladys of the forum that I also made a dream card for.
Sadly these ladies are all missed as they no longer are active in the forums here :(

This one is user Dolly69 and lived not far north of me, she was/is a very nice person and I would love to see them back, but alas, things change and not always for the better.

Very neat Oquijan. You really collected a lot of stuff here. Thanks for the time you must have invested for this.

For those interested in the Replacement cards i can recommend Alertes great website:
http://mapage.noos.fr/cumulus33/index2.htm
If you go on New Look Card you gonna find all sets that i know of (either directly on the site or via link to other sites.). You can really say his site is the home of the replacement cards.

Thanks, fellows and lady for your comments. ;)

Skins.

Before packing the digging tools to head for another areas, i'll mention one last thing about the current theme.

The way for changing the skins in the software was a discovery made and posted by the user becava on November 04. This one is the first skin ever posted, featuring Jana H., and made, of course, by the mentioned user.

If you want to change the way your software interface looks, there are a few ones made to work with the current version.

There's an sticky thread in the User Artwork forum, "Skins for New version 1.0.4.5 & 1.0 .4.6", started by CyberVixen, that gathers the works of several of the community members.

Casting... or what was not meant to be.

You might have noticed that there's a forum called Casting. If you can't see it, it's only because you don't have a red star or you're not what Totem calls a VIP member, which stands for "Very Important People" in english, but that in french most have a completely different meaning. The VIP deception is a theme for another history, though.

This gonna take sometime to post, so please wait till the whole thing is up before adding some comments. ;)

The casting forum is to date the newest addition to the site (soon there will be a DeskBabes forum). It was in use before exclusively for the crew members, but it was opened last year as a perk of sorts for the long time loyal customers, and good spenders, that were heavily affected and outraged by all the changes that took place back on july of 2009, with the arrival of the 1.0.2.32 version of the software, that blew away more things than the tornados season in Kansas. (See pages 2, 3, 4 and above this post for more info)

On July 14, 2009, in the thread "Rewarding old timers", by Rex, it was announced that a new status level "Old timers", would be implemented and that users at the time with at least 300 cards and 3 months as members will be benefited with an exclusive special offer and the acceses to the casting forum. Later the designation "VIP" was established for those members and their stars turned red.

On August 04, 2009, the casting forum was on for the VIPs. The day after, the first chick that was casted there with the "help" of the users is already dancing for us with a big new set of plastic boobs.

The casting forum was basically abandoned by Totem for several months, though, with only a fistful of posts from the team (14 posts in more than 5 months), despite that the mentioned forum was implemented as a "reward". It was only till last January when the forum was reactivated (after angry reclaims, of course. Is there any other way with Totem?).

As today, after the long drought, the casting forum has been relatively active and working well, (it could be a lot more active, though) thanks to the great job of Stanzeflasher, getting us the pretty chicks that dance for us, some of them already dancing, and some that will come soon for both VirtuaGirl and DeskBabes alike.

Nah, i won't tell which ones.

Now, the casting forum has a precedent. Back in the year of 2008, there were a few threads opened by Totem, asking the platinums of that time opinions about some chicks they were casting. Alizee is one of the chicks that was considered that way.

This pic belongs to her "public casting", On February 11, 2008.

But, as some get in, many are left out. Yup, might be shocking to know for some, but yes, girls are rejeted too. There are many reasons for that. Some chicks ask for more money than the company offers, some decline the invitations, some have lousy working attitudes and some just don't look good enough, among many other reasons that only the bosses here know.

There's a restriction in the casting forum that the pics over there can't be posted in other sections, so i won't do that. Also, even though is not formally forbiden, information about the girls casted in there is reserved only for the ones that have access granted. Nobody wants to spoil the surprise for the rest of the users, i guess.

But what about the rejected ones? Surprises aside, the following girls won't be teasing you, nor getting naughty on our desktops, unless the misterious hand of fate intervene somehow, someday. So, instead of saying hello, say goodbye to this lovely chicks... We hardly knew them... sob...

Since i can't post pics from the casting forum, i went to search my own for each girl. execep for this one and the next one, that also were posted as a "public casting" back on 2008.

Terry

This one was casted a long time ago. There is no definitive word about her fate, but i guess she would be dancing for us now if hired. Also, i most say that i really regret that this chick is not a VG. Maybe someday, who knows?

Same as Terry. Fate not definitely known, but nothing about her after many months after casted.

The rest after this girl are, for the time being, discarded for sure.

And that's all, folks, with this short compilation of the girls that made history by not making history on VG and the casting forum.

The list might have some blanks, so if you know of another chicks rejected, please feel free to add them. ;)

Edit. Sorry for the re posting. I left some stuff out, but now it's all up. ;)

I will add two more casualties to this list, now that the casting forum was updated. We had this next two approved, but seems that something came up between and their appearence here were cancelled. Pity, cause both are amazing show girls. So, also say goodbye to:
