You just argued that a 20% discount with 4k and a free special card is not a huge discount but paying 29% is a great sacrifice. Which is it? If you pay $239 a year the premium will be paid for...so it looks like you are going to come out head by $20...plus 4k.

The Premium purchase seemed like a no-brainer for me and my situation. I buy every card on the day it is released because I am an *****. Here is a breakdown of the math for a Triple Diamond member who purchases the maximum promo credit package (typically 600 credits for $49.99 USD) and who purchases every card upon its release or very shortly thereafter (somewhere in the neighborhood of about 100 of us):

At Triple Diamond level each card is 13.75 credits. If you purchase credits at the full price of 500 for $49.99 USD that comes to $1.375 per card. If you purchase credits during promo periods in packets of 600 credits for $49.99 USD that comes to $1.146 per card. 365 cards in a year at this cost would add up to $418.15 USD.

With the additional 20% savings provided by the new Premium status, each new card should be 11.00 credits for Triple Diamond members. This translates to $0.916 USD in real cost per card when credits are purchased in packets of 600 for $49.99 USD during promo periods. 365 cards in a year at this cost would add up to $334.52 USD. Add $59.99 for the cost of the Premium subscription and your total is $394.51.

So my savings is $23.64 USD for the year. Yeah, that's not much of a savings over time but it IS a savings! And that's not even factoring in the 20% discount on VR videos - you betchyer ass I buy all of those, too! I still have a 1080 monitor and don't download cards in any higher resolution than that but it's nice to know that I will have the ability to download all of the applicable cards to the highest available resolution if I do ever upgrade my hardware. It has been extremely rare that I have raised issues with the support team but it is also nice to know that I would theoretically receive priority handling as a Premium subscriber.

The price reduction is a good reward for those that buy most if not all the cards on release day or shortly after and get left out of so many tgif offers because of their buying habits so i'm all for that. But for picky buyers it's a bad deal (can just wait for the buy 4 for 3 deal and get 25% offl) so the only real draw is the 4k and placing it behind a paywall is a just ... well ... smh

They just gave you $40 cash...if you buy 365 cards a year. You save 27.5c per card. That is exactly $100 a year that you will save just with the 20% discount. 100-59 for the deal and you just made $41. Totem just gave $41 or 37 free future 4k cards for free! What a deal!

I don't play the **** scratch game more than one time (10 credit what a sell!!!)
(or maybe use free credits from reload event once... not sure i did). So I was lucky in my unluck, BUT no **** put 600 credit on the table for an event EVER.

Seriously i am glad those of you that buy most if not all the cards are actually getting some love in the form of a % off you can use as opposed to the TGIF's which are usually no use to you all. AFIK it's you that have kept the lights on at totem all these years.

My current strategy will be to "spend" my joker this time next year on the SEC card I'd most like to have. Then I'll repeat the same thing the following year.

The way that I read the opening post of the TGIF is that the Joker card is only available with the purchase of the premium offer until Oct. 25. After that it will be gone.

As diamond use 1 show is 25-45% = 13.75 credits. As premium user 13.75-20% = 11 credits. A saving of 2.75 credits. 500 credits are € 49.99 premium is € 59. This is 590 credits in proportion. If I only use the 20% discount, I have to buy at least 215 shows to be more affordable. So how many you think you buy and make the choice.

I believe the entirely of the userbase has spoken: please add the ability to buy special event cards as an additional feature for the premium service, even if it's just for 10 days from release. Better still, give subbers a joker card per month.

@sjaakie - In the Hall Of Fame posts in the News section of the Featured tab you will find a list of 250 users who who benefit. In order to get onto this list you must not only have bought essentially not only all the recent cards but also all of the older 1080p, 720p and 480p cards which implies that there will almost certainly be an even larger number of users that have not bothered with all of the older cards but are still buying all of the new cards as they appear. The answer to your question "how many you think you buy and make the choice" is therefore at least several hundred - or rather at least that many would benefit from taking up the offer.

I would have thought that you would only lose the premium status after the year that you have paid for is up. I think that Celine or one of the other team members said as much in an early post.

As to a benefit of the shows at 4k vs other resolutions:

In the area of skin coloration accuracy on a calibrated display:
I am observing that though Skye's skin coloration at 4k is pretty close to other resolutions, Niki's 4k skin hue, compared to other resolutions, more accurately represents a Eurasion with a medium tan, as can be observed frequently here in SoCal. And that's a good thing.

I have over 3300 cards by now and still regularly buying. But I'm at a point where all the slot machines and scratch cards offer me cards that don't really bother me that much anymore. I decided that for me it was a lot cheaper to buy only the cards I want rather than to gamble for them.
But... I would also like to keep the option to eventually get the collection complete and therefore I always entered the special events just to get the special card. Until... last time when the special events card could only be won by gambling. So now I'm left with one card I will never be able to get (by the current rules of the game) and thus will never be able to complete my collection. Therefore any further special event cards have no meaning for me anymore. If my collection cannot be completed because of one card, it may as well not be completed by two or more cards.
I understand Totem is in it for the money, but if they want mine for this Premium subscription, they have to give me the option to buy (not even need to give away) the special event cards. I would even be prepared to continue to enter special events if getting the special event card is for sure and only have the option to buy the special event cards for gambling events as a Premium subscriber.
In any way, it's their business. If they don't want my money I'm fine with it. There's so many other things to spend it on and have fun.

You may be right. After a year, I'll cash in my Joker and then act as I see best. I will not spend more than 50 credits for a single card.

How often will we get a joker card to redeem for a free card/special event card once we buy the Premium subscription?
I bought the subscription and purchased all the available cards at the discounted rate, and used the joker card to purchase one of the 5 speciual event cards in my store.
Do I have to wait until my year's subscription is up and renew to get another joker card, or is it every 10 days, or what?

@freewheeler - there has been no indication as to whether or not joker cards will in future be related to premium membership. As yet the only things are that a Specal Event Card has been issued to mark the start of the premium membership scheme and that we get a joker card if we join this week, the initial announcemnt siad

To celebrate this news, we have decided to offer a JOKER card for every subscription run before Friday,

There is no indication that this will be a recurrent feature.

They have taken something, now we have to pay resolution upgrade. In the beginning it was 720p, then 1080p came and then 3K. Did you have to be Premium to download 3K ?? Then now to pay back their new 4K cameras and equipment, they just invented something new. Yes we've lost a lot since they introduced gambling, special event cards and now we have to pay for developments.

@Carbo - No they have NOT taken anything - they have offered something new and this time have decided to charge for it. They could simply have continued as before and not offered the 4k resolution at all.

There is a huge difference between taking and not giving.
