Without identifying any users by name, please check your PM "Messages" Inbox to see if it is full. I am currently exchanging PM's with a member to help them with a computer problem, and I can't reply to their latest PM because their Inbox is full.

Come to think of it now, when I select the "My Messages" section of the forum, it will list the messages in my Inbox and Sent folders, but I don't see anything that will tell me if my folders are "full" or how much space there is remaining in them.

Is there a way to do that here?

---- "Is there a way to do that here?" ----

Doesn't seem so, but there has been spoken something about 1000 messages to fill the mailbox, though no official info has been given.

Would be useful to know indeed how much free space do you still have, and how much has been used.
Otherwise no clue, if you're wondering, why you do not get messages anymore from friends ..

Perhaps should be posted in Ideas?

1000 messages has been the magic maximum number for some considerable time now, beyond which messages cannot be received....so careful culling is required on approaching that quantity...

Hmmm. I have a lot of messages I may want to refer back to at times. How about a "Saved messages" box to transfer useful ones to and then we can delete the not so useful ones? This is how Google Mail works :)

So just to clarify, it is the number of MESSAGES that matters, and not the overall SIZE of the data in the Inbox or Sent boxes? They will hold 1000 messages regardless of the size content of those messages?

I've seen it done both ways before. You could be limited to the "storage space" size of message folders.

Check BOTH your Inbox and Sent box tabs. There will be a different number displayed above each box. Methinks the 1000 limit is the TOTAL of those two numbers displayed for the number of messages in each box. So you may have 950 "Sent" messages in your Sent tab...folder...box...whatever. And only room for 50 in your Inbox.

That's what you get for having TWO tight little boxes. You gotta keep track of what's in both of them at the same time. ;-)

EDIT: Well, according to the other thread I just read, it's supposed to allow 1000 in EACH box. So disregard what I said above. :-(

That's a good advice, DIDGE, but would it work for me as well ..?

My Sent box became full today with 35 messages in it, so the Inbox, and it doesn't look even close to 50 - not talking about 1000!

Is this due to the level changes .. ?

One's for sure - whether it's about messaging or anything else - we're in a lack of official and adequate information here pretty often and that's not a good thing - however, a good soil for all kinds of misunderstandings.

There will undoubtedly be any number of hiccups in the early days of these new changes, and it looks like the PM facility is the first ( not counting my email, of course ).....:)

Actually no problem, if it has been set to 35 by Totem due to my new membership level. Can be handled, though I'd still like to get a clear message about this change, just to know that's all right. Because it might be a bug of some kind or a temporary server issue as well .. something, which needs to be fixed.

Frankly wasn't prepared for the need to make an inventory in my mailbox right the first thing in the morning. Was a bit in a hurry and this was quite unexpected surprise .. not a pleasant one.
