What would stop someone else fromm starting another, would be nipping it in the bud before it got off the ground, as the Ladder should have been at its inception.
The Ladder was OBVIOUSLY going to be ongoing forever, but NOTHING was done at the beginning to head it off at the pass.

Now it has trundled along for so long, giving the impression that IT is as near to "Fun" as anyone is likely to get. Consequently, any complaints/objections are treated as party pooping...

Personally, I'm glad I will never be sad enough to regard putting two names down as "fun"...but that's just MHO.....

Rarely has a thread warranted so many complaints, and occasioned so much animosity, without ANYTHING tangible having been done about it.

One definite change that is necessary, as has already been suggested, is the introduction of a Visible "End of Tunnel" to the whole "game".....preferably with more sensible regulations regarding future continuation.

Surely even hardcore participants can appreciate an acceptable saturation point, where enuff is enuff !...

If only some people had taken notice of this in its very early stages when some of us tried to stop it before it went too far we would not have the need for this discussions now, would we ;)

This is Totems forum and it is their Job to decide what ideas are relevant and what are not, and it is about time REX made an appearance here and took note, he wanted a forum now he needs to run it as most other forums are run, where SPAM is not tolerated

I've also voted and contributed a few times..
But It's not what brings me to the forums..

the Voting, the Pictures, the Current ladder posts all flood the last 50..
But is that SPAM?

There is a group of members that do Enjoy this Ladder.
Some Come to the Forum just to play the ladder..

So what I personally see as not Interesting and a never ending thread..
is SPAM to some...
and Others have a real Enjoyment of it.

I like to read the Best Inventions Thread..
Others see it as pointless rubbish that doesn't belong on a PORN Forum.

I agree with your message. I wish we could find a middle ground to make more people at least comfortable in this matter.

WA we are friends but we have never agreed on this and probably never will, however unless the situation is dealt with instead of swept under the carpet and ignored, the complaints will continue and members will get more and more annoyed.

you enjoy the thread as you enjoy another thread that frankly gets on my nerves, if the forum had a proper structure to it then your enjoyment would not interfere with my enjoyment and visa versa.

I got complaints about my posting cards and pictures so I stopped at the time flooding the last 50 with card and picture updates, invested in a website to appease those I was ***** of, self moderation!


T&C's, well my interpretation of those is that this particular thread is breaking the T&C's and this new thread to discuss the situation is proof enough of that.

If we were to enforce rule 5 simply based on a thread has taken over the last 50.
we'd have to close most threads soon after they open.
If a thread becomes popular, it will Always take over the last 50.

So that becomes very Non-Forum friendly..
Don't create anything that will be popular, because it will Disrupt the use of the last 50.


If I consider the Last 50 as a tool to use. Then I have to look at it, That the Tool is flawed. It is Doing exactly what it was designed to do, but that makes the Tool not Useful enough.

I look at it, that I should then design a better tool.
Not ***** the Popular threads to stop because it interferes with my tool.

So the cause of the Complaints is not really the Action in the Thread, so much as is it, the Last 50 becomes a tool that is no longer useful.

I stopped out of respect for other users and created a place where people who wanted to view my art could go and enjoy it without disturbing others. and just posted on a very limited basis that updates were online on my website ;)

Now why don't the little groupies from the Ladder do the same and go pay for a website where they can happily post night and day, day and night

sorry but I really think too much time is be given to this whole situation, I have seen other members given timeouts for over posting photos or artwork, is about time, this thread was also given a timeout IMHO

The last 50 is most definitely flawed and has been since the beginning of time, it would not be the first time this has been brought to totems attention, in fact the mods were given a larger last 50 just to help combat this issue if i remember correctly, yet we are now 2 years down the line and the last 50 remains flawed and Totem remain quiet, and no change is in sight so those who have had enough speak out.

no doubt this whole issue will again go quiet for a while and nothing will be changed and in another year or two years we will be back here having the same conversation about the same thread and still nothing will be accomplished ;)

Please draw a breath and calm down. There is a touch of hysteria coming in here.

There are comments that the fault comes down to:

• Last 50 posts
• Hot topics
• Any topic that receives numerous posts is a problem
• I don't use last 50 posts, so I don't care about it
• I don't use hot topics, so I don't care about it

So far, the only one trying to walk a reasonable line is WA.

Yes while a filter to block out threads that you aren't interested in might solve the problem for some, in not the panacea that some suggest. Plus it may not be easy to develop with the resources that Totem has available.

What I find intolerable, is the growing lack of tolerance amongst many of the most vocal posters and that is from both sides of the campaign. Now that is not going to win me friends from either side of the "debate" or to be more honest the argument.

But if a bit more tolerance was given, maybe the angst would reduce?

So take a chill pill please.
