And I’m very grateful to StanZ for making it possible and take the time to do it, you are a very nice champ. ;)

Great work Oquijan. I am happy for you that you now too got your present from one of the models and the one with the best casting results even.
Yes there are some great models who interacted with the users of this forum.
PussyKat was the latest.
Would be cool if it would be more. But of course they have other things to do in the most cases. Still it always feels special to get in contact with the models.

THE ART OF RECYCLING

Well, dunno if “art”, but the recycling at the Totem’s mansion is pretty much a common practice. Not necessarily something good or something bad, but happens.

Back then in the first page of this thread, I mentioned the recycling of jewelry and accessories. Well, there’s a link in there to the original thread where that first came up, but since the website had a full make-over some time ago, old links no longer work.

So, in the spirit of recycling, I’m gonna recycle that info and make it the first part of this chapter, lol.

ACCESSORIES

Some 750 days ago, I made a thread called “Just grab something from the drawer, dear... Over-recycled accessories”.

There are several examples posted by others and me there about the recycling of accessories, mainly, and other stuff. I’ll just bring one of those examples. Don’t want to flow this thread with that again, but if you want to hunt for coincidences and post examples about that, the working link to that thread is:

You know, when you have the feeling that all the girls are starting to look the same and blame it to the Czech invasion... Yeah, well, that might be just right, but also i have noticed that Totem seem...

OUTFITS

Well, a lot more conspicuous than necklaces or earrings are the outfits, suits or dresses. There is plenty recycling in that front. Many are exclusive repetitions from the VGHD age, but plenty reached us from the early products, VG and VG2. With DBs, several outfits saw even one or two more uses. Tailoring must be a good business in Paris, lol.

There’s an ongoing thread started by szalka, 597 days ago: “Same dresses in VGHD”, with several examples of all the repetitions. The pick here was also originally posted by szalka.

Same as with the accessories, you can track and add to the recycled outfits here if you like:

NAMES OF THE SHOWS

This recycling habit is puzzling. Seriously, there are more words in English than chicks willing to get naked for Totem in all the Eastern Europe and more likely in the whole planet. Didn’t make the equations, but is an educated guess, lol.

Now, there are a just a few shows or card names recycled in VGHD, right? Yup. But Totem has been recycling over and over again names from VG1 and VG2 and using them in the current product. They also recycled names heavily in those old products, plenty of those names are yet to be used here, though.

This is a visual compilation of all the names I was able to find in the earlier product that made one or more apparitions in VGHD. I’m not saying that it’s a full list, cause is challenging for the memory (and the eyes) and because there are still lots of Classic shows to be released and surely there are many repetitions there. Not my intention to make this a fully, bullet-proof complete list, though, is just to exemplify the recycling in this matter. So, please, not to hijack the thread with omissions. ;)

The pics and info for this recycled material came from CyberVixen’s website, which is a great place to visit: www.cybervixensworld.com

Many thanks, CyberVixen. ;)

Simultaneously to this chapter, I’m starting a thread to have some fun making up names for the shows:

That’s it for the moment. See you around. ;)

as it was the whole time your posts in this thread always make up for an interesting read, you might call it an VG history lesson ;-) Being a user who more or less started with VGHD (i don't really count that month of Stripsaver 2) its an interesting and (for me) new information, that Totem reuses names from VG1 and VG2 for their current product. Thanks again for your efforts and thanks @CV for her efforts too. Nice to read that the team supported her too.

Something interesting form the net.

I was surfing and bumped on an old interview with our friendly CEO here at VG.

Me thinks you might find it interesting too. Is history too. Lol.

Originally released in AVN, I'm posting it as it is over there.

TotemCash got its start in 1998, releasing the now-legendary VirtuaGirl desktop strippers, which, according to one interview, “achieved a level of mainstream and adult success than no-one could have anticipated, with over 100 million installations.”

AVN Online recently caught up with TotemCash co-founder, Richard “Rex” Excoffier, to find out what makes virtual strippers such a lucrative business.

VirtuaGirl reached the 3 million downloads mark in 2008 — what is the story with VirtuaGirl and VirtuaGuy today in 2009?

We released the first version of VirtuaGirl back in 1998. It has been an immediate success and that version reached more than 1,000 million installs. The new HD version we’re featuring now comes with a community that reached 6 millions members in May 2009.

How have you been able to sustain that success?

I believe innovation is the key. Adding new features to the software for the end user and adding new promo tools for the affiliates is the only way to sustain success. The latest version of the software automatically brings a fresh new girl, in HD, on the user desktop every day, for free. From there it’s just a matter of time ‘til he falls in love with one of the girls and pays to see her naked.

Any success stories you’d like to share?

In 2000 my partner walks into my office with a bank statement in his hands telling me this is how much we have in bank. Then he added, “OK, I lied to you we have a bit more and with the difference we can both become helicopter pilots.” We’re still both flying today, he’s now even running an helicopter company on the side.

What would you tell a new affiliate or someone interested in becoming an affiliate about your business?

Most affiliates I know are facing difficulties maintaining their income with porn websites selling videos due to the competition of tube sites. We don’t ***** much from the tube sites and we’re an alternative product to promote along with cams and dating sites. Our product is softer than most sites around so starting to promote us takes a bit more than redirecting porn traffic, but it’s worth the effort. Last but not least, we’re the only one in this industry to share the detailed statistics of our top 100 affiliates

Who is more popular, VirtuaGirl or VirtuaGuy? How many different models do you have for each and what, if anything, is different about working in the straight versus gay adult business?

VirtuaGirl features more than 600 models now and VirtuaGuy is reaching about 80. VirtuaGirl is way more popular than VirtuaGuy. The gay market represents about 10 percent of our income, it’s small but has a steady grow.

Tell me about yourself. How did you get into the desktop strippers business originally? When and how did you join Totem Cash? What is your role today and how has it changed since first joining the company?

I worked in the video game business for 10 years before jumping out to start VirtuaGirl with my partner Herve. Last game I did was Planet of the Apes for Fox, two years project, 50 people, I got really tired of it and decided to jump on something lighter. I went from doing a bit of everything, including the programming of the first version, to most
exclusively marketing and sales now.

How has your company’s entrance into the video world gone, after having rolled out VideoHub, a “sophisticated, member-driven DVD download site filled with popular, ready-to-***** hardcore titles, starring the most bankable studios and porn stars in the adult industry?" What was consumer response?

VideoHub never took off. Lessons learned, never be a follower and stick to what you do best. In our case: Desktop Strippers.

2009.

I like to get some "behind the scenes" peeks now & then..
Now...whenever I see Rex's smiling face here in the threads I'll have an image of him "Jumping about" all over Totem's offices in my mind!

I read all 8 pages.last week.It took over an hour. And wanted to comment then. But I went to bed instead.I think, and I`m serious, that the whole History Lesson. Should be condenced,Like an introduction. And be up somewhere,as an extra, for those curious, about VG..And who think they have innovated ideas, that they feel they should Clammer about, and make a Fuss about.Or switch to another site, they think could do better. I know if I knew the difficulties, encounted by VG.And the failed attempts,of different ideas. That I would have been more content, with just enjoying myself. And not dwelling on how it could be better..This is more than a good piece of History. Its the facts. And knowing,as an old radio personality used to say.'THE REST OF THE STORY'.Would bring good feelings toward VG.For attemping everything they could, to provide the best product. Its a very nice Work,Quijan....It should be utilized. And Totem can`t really beat their own drum..Meaning,it should come from a user...Thanks..just an old guys thoughts..
