Once upon a time, the site went down, the downloads were history, no connection to the servers. The release of new cards had to be postponed… And when the dust cleared, we found out that this happened:

For the last 12 hours, VirtuaGirl has been experiencing a heavy distributed denial of service (DDOS) attack. What seems to be going on is that a large botnet is trying to take down our site. The attack was fully saturating the entire network connection at our hosting provider. We've been working together with our hosting company and a security company to restore all services and as of this morning (16th) at 8am GMT both the website and the software are working again.

Please notice we're using a temporary solution and you could still encounter problems (time outs, 404...). We're now working on setting up a stronger solution that should be up later during the day.

We decided to postpone the release of new girls this Friday till we're sure servers can handle the load.

Curious thing, a few hours ago the site went down in a similar fashion, luckily it was not the same. If it was an attack, this time the shields were up or the offenders were dumber.

We're going to add new booster packs and are working on names. So far we got redheads, asian, army and we're looking for a name for a booster pack that will include all latex and leather outfits. We thought of "SM" but we're not too happy with it. Ideas?”

Well, they never used my idea of a Czech Girl Booster Pack… I still think a booster pack that can’t be depleted is a good idea, lol.

The special offer of 8 daily cards, that was in place since On January 14, 2010, has come to an end, and with it, the special offers in the website. We now have a carousel in the software that displays up to 20 special 1 credit offer for both VG and DBs in exchange of some bandwidth. Me thinks this is the best special offer ever.

2010: A VIP (CYBER) SPACE ODYSSEY

And talking about special offers, there’s one that caused lots of anxiety, despair and royalty pissed off almost everyone with a red badge beside their user name… till recently, and everybody is pretty happy now. Here’s how we came to this.

In the beginning, there were just platinums. That was the ultimate distinction for any regular user. They had a private forum and were considered some kind of elite. Almost everybody was satisfied with the status quo, but one day, as related elsewhere in this thread, the good old calendar was removed and a very ***** special offer was implemented, causing the most savvy users to wonder about their reasons to be called dear, and that is totally a gentle way to put it, cause it was almost a civil war. So, after lots of debate and less unpleasant conversations, Totem decided to do something about it.

We took the time to read all the posts about the new system and understood old time members were frustrated by it to say the least.
This was not our goal at all, the new system has been designed to make things easier to understand for new comers and to push them to visit the website (over half of the new users were never coming back to the website after downloading the software). There are way more cards on special offer per week than before, but a lot of users felt negatively about it.

We're going to tune the special offers, not sure how exactly yet, maybe by publishing more than one card at once, to make them last longer.


We also decided to create a new status "Old Timer" for users with over 300 cards that have been with VirtuaGirl for over 3 months (I'm not talking about subscription here, it's just about when the software has been installed). Users with this status will be able to purchase the (5) girls visiting them for one ticket instead of two. Also this status will give access to the hidden "Casting" category in the forum where the crew cast future models and make their choices.

Theses changes will be implemented in the coming weeks, your feedback is welcome :)”

So, the calendar was restored for those old timers, with fewer demos, but basically in the same fashion as before. Now, how to name those hardcore dudes?

Just to confirm, VIP status for users with over 300 cards gives access to the new Casting category in the forum and all models 5 visiting at reduced price (one ticket instead of two). Team was debating between two colors for the star, didn't check it out, so it'll be a surprise for all tomorrow ;)”

The color, of course, was red. Why? Bites me…

And then this new clan named the VIPs lived in relative peace for a while. There was a period of months when the Casting forum was pretty much inactive and that started to piss off the crowd, but the calendar offers were fine, considering how awful the special offer at the site was. The VIPs had a nice escape to all that dissatisfaction cause they had their perk and felt nice about it.

But then, all the cards were put on special for 1 ticket. After that, the 8 daily cards on special was implemented and, suddenly, the VIPs saw their perk absurd, since the site offer was supposed to feature the best and most recent cards to everyone, while the VIP calendar often offered the old and the less popular. Now the casting forum inactive started to feel really bad and some few users started to campaign in pro of the each time poorer VIP clan.

In the thread: “to be, or not to be... a VIP: is that special at all?” started by, well, me, lol, the stand begun in some kinda formal way. That happened 679 day(s) ago, 01/14/2010. After a few days, there were a couple of replies:

So, as said, the casting forum was alive, finally, and it is still active and good, besides some vacation time out now and then.

But, after months and months, the new thing for the VIPs never happened. In the middle there were new softwares, new websites, new products… and the VIPs kept waiting and waiting, some not quietly, though, lol.

Ah, but it was gonna get worst. One fine day Totem decided to make the calendar special offer available to everybody, ending that way and reducing to dust the last VIP commodity. One thing is to never have it, something different is to own it and then losing it. This post tells the tale:

I agree that extending what we thought at first would be VIP privileges (girls visiting you at one ticket instead of two plus 8 new girls everyday at one ticket also) to all our customers can make VIPs wonder what do they get on top of the casting forum. Well, better for that discount to be there even if everyone can benefit of it than not. As to DeskBabes pricing, we invested a lot of money producing it over the last 12 months (think models doing xxx, flights, hotels, agents, studio, photograph, makeup, post production etc times 50) and we think members are going to be selective of girls they buy, reading other's post about it and pretty happy about what they're getting (as far as the feedback we got from quality insurance and beta testers). More rewards for platinum and VIP members is needed for sure, let's talk about it once you see the quality of DeskBabe shows :)”

And we saw the DBs shows, and the months went away and nothing. Again, a few users remained restless about it, but despite proposals and questions, seemed like nothing would ever happen, until, surprise: a VIP ONLY card.

So, finally, the VIP clan was happy again… or was it? Well, many were pretty satisfied with a card exclusive for the level, but some users, once the card was announced, mostly silent dudes that never voiced anything about the VIP status, then showed up to ask for freebies and amazing content for the cards.

We've been working hard and put a lot of effort to release more girls every week for everyone and to give VIP members special treatment. The VIP card is not free, cost as much for us as any other card to produce (girl's fee, agent's fee, flights, hotel, food, photographer, makeup, pole dance trainer, studio, lights, backups, photo clean up, video post production, servers etc) but if you are a subscriber, it'll come in your subscription as any other card, you don't have to buy it extra. Now we're trying to please our VIP customers here, by releasing a card only for them, if it does the opposite (making VIP unhappy and *****), maybe we should just stop releasing VIP only cards, you tell me :)”

We shoot all the cards the same, trying to make them as interesting as possible casting the girls right, buying the right outfits, bringing new people on the set to train them, motivate them, push them and make them smiling and sexy. Then the team does the post production and given there is no tech glitch that prevent us to release the card, choose the order of release (once face card, photo clean, bonus videos, panoramic, introduction text and post production on the clips is done) and select which cards will be VIP. We though about selecting more cards with special props, or exotic girls for VIP only cards, but guess what: some don't like big props, or exotic, or anything special. Even trying to select "known" girls is risky as most people choose "fresh" over "known" but already faded a bit. So random it is. Members have been asking for more and more girls every week and we hired new people for post production, the studio is now busy almost every day of the week. Side effect is it becomes more difficult to make every single girl special. We're buying more crazy outfits, more props, working with new agents, new countries, we're training the girls... anything else you thing we should do, I'm more than interested to hear :)”

Well, no wonder that Rex & co get pissed off from time to time...

Anyway, all was mostly good and nice for a while. Everybody was pretty much minding their own business and everything seemed to fair well… and then: boom!, the ship was down again.

Some 243 day(s) ago, the very first VIP card was not so anymore. The VIP label was gone and this time there was a lot more users disgusted and some really annoyed. It was said that it was just a glitch and that it would be fixed, but then:

The recent incident with VIP cards made us look closer at statistics and production costs. In a nutshell, VIP cards cost the same to produce as any other cards but only sell for 10% of normal cards.

I know VIP cards are important to VIP members and believe me VIP members are important to me. But we can't continue like this, whatever we do has to make sense economically.

I see three different options:

1) We stop producing VIP cards once a month. not my favorite.
2) We keep producing the extra card a month but it's not only for VIPs, it's called 'EXTRA' and available for everyone. Or for Platinums & VIPs?
3) We keep producing the extra VIP card a month, but it's available to everyone after let's say a year

Let me know what you think.”

Hum, well, lets say that, mostly, what people thought about it was… not kind. But there were also suggestions, like this one: “I'll quote again this: "we can't continue like this, whatever we do has to make sense economically" If VIPs are the 10% of sales, maybe the platinums add, say, the 40% of the total sales. So, in fact they still won’t be getting the money they get for free access cards with this plan. So, the way to keep it as a perk and gain the more possible money with this is giving the VIP cards for free to the VIPs and gain a 90% of sales with this cards as normal cards for the rest of the users. VIPs lose the card as an exclusive, but get it for free and Totem gets a lot more revenue than just selling it to the VIPs and the platinums. That is a compromise and a fair deal for both parts.”

That proposal was ignored at the time. Instead, a few days later, with the version 1.0.6.01 of the software, the VIP tool was created. It was more an annoyance cause it was working pretty bad, but it was something, very little, but some kind of token cause the good will was running very low.

After reading reactions and ideas here, as well as doing multiple meetings with the crew, we decided the following.

VIP Cards:

We'll keep producing VIP cards at the same pace as today. They'll be available for VIP members only at time of release, then for Platinum members after 6 months, then to everyone after a year.

Bonuses:

Bonus videos of all new girls will be made available for free to Platinum and VIP members when new cards get released. A post will be made in the Platinum only forum with links to watch them.

Extra controls have been released since version 1.0.6.1 of the software for VIP members. Leaving the mouse pointer on the girl during a show pops a small menu with buttons to play the clip in slow motion or to pause it.

We're working on more bonuses for VIP and/or Platinum members, probably revolving around letting you have a closer look at production and girls before they get released.”

None of those ideas meant too much to anyone. Platinums were happy, but VIPs were pretty upset about the whole plan, cause actually, they still had almost nothing to brag about.

Looks like everyone is unhappy about the changes we made for VIP cards so I decided to change things again. I'm pretty disappointed myself by the reactions I see here as I decided to pay extra to produce this VIP card and it backfired making unhappy the very people I wanted to please.

As a reminder Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and VIP levels have been created for the community and the forum, mostly for other people to see how serious of a collector you are, but have never been intended for levels of perks or advantages.

All videos of girls will remain available for free for Platinum and VIP users. I believe it's nice to be able to see the girl moving and talking before buying her. It's not a perk per say, it has more to do with the fact I can't let millions of free loaded watch all videos without overloading our servers. I know videos will spread, I don't care if it's not slowing down my servers it's a service for my customers.

VIP cards will be available to everyone the day they are released. Price will be 2 tickets for everyone, 1 ticket to Platinum users and free for VIP users. That's the best proposal I found in the other thread. It should give us enough money to keep producing this extra card; it's a perk for Platimun and VIP. Keep in mind that VIP cards have nothing special in their content; we select them late in the process.

I hope this will make everyone happy; otherwise I'll just stop producing them, problem solved!

As you can see, by checking out the chapter dedicated to the fans, is about the VGirls that are so nice to interact with the community, and those are so rare here that are jewels among jewels, I say.

Some users are lucky to have some private chats and PMs with some Vgirls, they won’t go publicly, but they still are very nice. I had some good chats with one in particular, and some others had the chance (right, Space? Lol.) I won’t tell her name, but she is a top girl with awesome curves, pretty face, with a long black hair and currently featured in plenty shows in VG.
