Hello to all new users that like to change the Look of their VirtuaGirl Programm.
On the Advanced just below the Settings Headline you find a dropdown menu where you can switch between the skins available to you.
Normally there is only the classic skin available.
Other skins are not provided by Totem but buy other VirtuaGirl Users.
Totem made a room for them in the Data Folder. There is a subfolder named Skins and inside that another Subfolder named VirtuaGirl.
That is the directory where the skins are to be copied to.
To find the Data-Folder here the default location copied from the Help Section:
"Go to Documents and Settings/User/Application Data/vghd/ [...] (for VISTA go to : C:/Documents and Settings/PC_USERNAME/Application Data/Roaming/vghd)"
Please note that Vista hides that folder by default and you have to enable 'show hidden folders' to find it.

Now how to get the skins.
There are many skins and links to them in different Threads in this forum. Most are dedicated to one girl but some also just change the colour of the classic skin.
I will give a few links here to skins.
Normally all skins are delivered in a ZIP-File or RAR-File that contains one Folder. And this folder is to be copied into the skinsVirtaGirlHD-Folder. Thats all. After a restart of your VGHD-Application you will find a new option in the dropdown menu on the advanced tab i mentioned before in the first post. Now you can switch to that new skin you just installed. You find the Folder-Name as an entry in that dropdown menu.
Look at the screenshots to see how that looks.

A good source is the homepage of another member(Member name is alerte)
He made many skins for different girls.

I downloaded and copied the Ariel skin above.

Now the "Options" tab only shows a very small (about 1 inch by 1 inch) completely gray box on my desktop...in other words, my options tab is gone. I have restarted VGHD and even re-installed the software to no effect...just have the small grey box. The software works otherwise.

@TallandSlimMan: can you make a screenshot of the contents of your 'skins/VirtuaGirlHD-Folder? i must see what it contains to help you.
There should be 2 folders there.

Yes, there are two folders there:

Ariel-skin-transparent-english

and

classic skin

Everything LOOKS fine, but the options tab simply does not work as described above.

Also, to close the little grey box, I have to quit VGHD or use control alt delete....it cannot be closed on the desktop or by right clicking the tab in the taskbar....

There are two things i can come up with as reason.
1 In the Ariel-folder are not the files but another subfolder.
If thats the case VGHD can't find the elements.
Open the Ariel folder and look if you got a long list of files mainly bmp-files there.
If yes than thats fine.
Second i left a file out of the zip because the skin seemed to work without it. That file is named vgirl.pack and is a big one 16MB big.
You will find that in the classic folder.
Copy it to the Ariel folder and see if it works then.
If not delete the Ariel folder.
VGHD has a registry setting with what skin to start.
Since A comes before C and that registry setting just contains a number 1 in your case it tries to use the Ariel skin. If you delete it, it will be back to classic skin.

Not sure how to copy the file....I did think to delete the Ariel skin, and the option tab now works fine. Thanks.

hm, ok. But it would be useful if you could tell me if the Ariel folder contained the files or if it just contained another subfolder.
It's my skin were talking about and i feel responsible for problems with it. If its the vgirl.pack that is missing i would create a new zip.
Don't want other users having the same problems.
About copying
Easiest way click on the file once and then press crtl+c
Then change to the destination folder and press ctrl-v.

Oh...I checked the folder, and it had all of the bmp files, just like classic skin.

I recopied the Ariel file to the VGHD folder, and copied the vgirl.pack file to it per your instructions.

Problem solved, and the new skin works!

Just tried it myself.
Moved all skin folders except the classic skin.
Then restarted VGHD to see if the classic skin works.
Now closed VGHD and unzipped the Ariel skin into the skins/VirtuaGirlHD folder. Started VGHD and voila there it was.
No problems although i left the vgirl.pack out.
I'm really puzzled what caused TallandSlimMans problems.
But just to be sure i will include the vgirl.pack into the zip just like the other users do. But be assured that i got it only in the classic skin folder on my Pc and all skins work nonetheless.
If anyone encounters similar problems with my skins please write me a PM. I don't want to be the cause of problems. I want to fix them.

If your skins/VirtuaGirlHD-Folder looks like on the screenshot(showing the situation in 2 different views )
you have to create a new folder.
Press the right mouse button and choose new and in the submenu that comes up then folder.
Then give it a name.
Now select all Files lying in the skins/VirtuaGirlHD-Folder (Left click once on the first one, scroll down to the last one, press shift and left click once on the last one)
Now you can move them to the folder you created be ***** & drop or the easiest way press crtl + x then open the new folder and press crtl + v.
Thats it.

Important update:
If you want your skins to work like they used to in the new Version 1.0.2.32 copy the contents of this zip file into the skins folder.
(Meaning if you got ten skins you need to copy it 10 times
Folder structure is vghd\data\skins\VirtuaGirlHD\
Copy the contents of this zip in every subfolder you find there.
(You can leave the classic skin out it already has the files.)

I downloaded the update file you recommended and installed the two unzipped files as you said, but there still seems to be a skin missing under the "my collection" tab. The top with the pull-down menus says it needs a skin, and the background is grayed out when set to icon or list display. I'm using version 35. Any ideas?

@viper368: Can you make a screenshot how it looks?
I'm not sure what should be missing.

[Edit:] Ah, just remember, have copied all 'new and changed' pics concerning the new system without reloading the whole skin sets. Maybe that's why it's fine here...

here test on my computer, next i test the file on my site, i made a update is possible i corrupt the rar file.

can you send a screen for you directory ?

all skin must in one separate folder, and the original folder not must have file other folders of valide skin. have luck and funrious. you can also see the little movie i place is not in english but is show you the oganisation of skins files.

• edit 2- you must have 211 files in the skin folder.

for information i update all my site skin to the version 1.0.2.35 of vghd.

@viper368 you have need only use the rar file of skin. tri download again and made a clean copy, no erase the original skin of VGHD or i must place it on my site ?
but erase the last nella skin you have.

I just checked, and almost all of the skins sub-folders have 196 files, not 211. Guess I'm missing something, heh? It's funny though, as the classic skin folder also has 196 files, which works fine. And I have several skins, and they all look the way the above screen shot does, with the exception of the classic skin, which works fine, and the Basic Blue Skin that I just downloaded and doesn't even appear on the pull down menu in the software. It's funny too, cause that one is the only folder to contain more files, 217 to be exact.
