How are the threads that appear in the featured thread list put there?
Is it automatic or does someone select?
Just wondering since the bottom thread was closed in May 2019 - so why is that there instead of say a current very active thread called simply "Fake".

The "Fake" thread still ain't made it o the featured threads list? Yet it's so busy today.

I think "featured" includes latest posts from the team.
The same as on the tab top left corner next to Special Offers, Girls Store, etc.

Why would that be when "Fake" has been ***** red hot for 24 hours and is still going strong?

Manually selected? Perhaps you are right @TheEmu and someone was having a laugh the other day when a thread closed in May 2019 was on that list?

It sometimes seems that way - certainly most of the featured threads are ones started by team members. But currently there are newer team threads that are not included and this particular thread is included.

It can't be "most active" either - the TGIF announcement is included though it only has a single post (and is locked so it will not grow).

Not sure but I vaguely recal that if the first post in a topic contained a picture then it appeared in the Featured Thread.

Could be totally wrong though and all the recent ones do seem to from the Team but in each case I think there is a picture in the first post in the thread.

As I just noticed the first post in this thread contains a picture I guess I'm wrong or maybe it's just limited to team posts.

and your point is what ? By saying that I assume something I am explicitly saying that I do not know what the explanation is but that I am presenting one possibility for consideration. Assuming implies lack of knowledge , very different from asserting something.

I agree that @Number6 's suggestion has a lot of merit - but whether it is the whole story or not I do not know. As the featured list is visible even to non-members via the web site I assume that some further criteria are taken into account as well - but I do not know and I do not assume that I am correct.
