How much memory is taken up and how many shows do you have downloaded?

Thinking of purchasing a HD specific to this and want to make sure I size it properly to be future proof for the next 5 or so years.

@wisc4fun - without doing some serious adding up, the 4k shows average 1.7 to 1.8 gB each. This compares to closer to 500mB for 3k shows. I now have 360 4K shows downloaded out of around 1600 and my models folder is 1.4tB on an external HD of 4tB.

So - you need to project based on your purchasing habits - if you buy 300 shows a year for 5 years you will need (I think) 2.7tB of space - and you should double that to allow for backup across two devices. And that is just for new releases - assume that you build up a similar collection to me of old shows and previous 4k shows and you will be looking at 4.1tB for each copy (primary and back up).

So a 6tB device is probably best - but I'm sure @Wyldanimal can advise on use of RAID devices.

My collection is about 2800 cards. It occupies 2.5 TB and all the cards in 4K are loaded as 4K. I'd estimate that the 4K cards require about 1 GB each. I buy about 2/3 of the cards at the time they are released and have no desire to buy the others. That means I'll need to move to a larger disk in about a year. You don't want to fill more than about 90% of a disk.

I have all the Current cards downloaded in the Max Resolution
Plus the Photoset Zips, and also the Expanded Photosets
I do Not have all the bonus Movies
So combined Models, Data, Photos, movies
I'm currently using 4.2 TB for iStripper

I checked the Size of the Last 100 cards, and that averages 1.8 GB per card for 4K

360 cards for 5 years would be about 3.8 TB

So you would need an 8TB or larger HDD to last for 5 years.

Buy 3 Drives, Use one as your Daily drive, and make two backups.
