This has probably been addressed a million times already but when you go to download the shows and choose a resolution bigger than your screen the warning says that you will end up with the same quality if you do so...

I'm just not sure how accurate this is because I tested both resolutions of the same show and notice the 3K resolution is more clear/crisp...if that makes any sense...or maybe it's all in my head and my eyes are playing tricks on me! 👍😍

No its not in your head. I went ahead and converted my entire collection that had 3K available when I had a 1080p monitor. The colors just seem to pop out at you the the models do seem to be more defined and crisper. If you have a computer that supports the extra load without issue hey why not.

I confirm too, on my 1080p monitor the 3k is better than the 1080.

Graphics card is only utilized in Full Screen Scenes

It is Not fully used for Desk top viewing.
your CPU is the Primary processor for Desktop Viewing.

Memory! not virtual Memory, Make a huge difference.
I recommend at least 2 to 3 Gigs of Free real Memory for iStripper.

I think it depends on the scale setting you are using. If you play cards at a scale of more than about 70%, a 1080p card will be scaled up and lose some crispness while a 3K card will still be scaled down.

Is your windows set to use the higher refresh rate that your monitor is capable of? My monitor supports 144Hz too but I found out the 10bit color support at 120Hz is way greater then just 144Hz. Also with that RX 580 your not going to be pushing that close to 144fps on AAA games anyways. High refresh rate cleared up all my microstutters I was seeing and now all the cards play with buttery smoothness.(Even Layla Fiore cards that are still not quite right even after reprocessing.)

Lol what do you mean by "Is your windows set to use the higher refresh rate that your monitor is capable of?"...that doesn't make any sense to me at all...my monitor is a 1080p freesync monitor capable of 144Hz through the use of a displayport cable...which I currently use...also what do you mean by "10bit color support at 120Hz is way greater then just 144Hz"...could you please elaborate?

I don't entirely agree with your second statement because I can play graphically demanding games at 144Hz just fine with some slight GPU setting adjustments to enhance performance or whatever...I guess I could apply a similar method through various testing of running multiple small shows and fullscreen mode...

High refresh rate cleared up all my microstutters I was seeing and now all the cards play with buttery smoothness.(Even Layla Fiore cards that are still not quite right even after reprocessing.)

Yes I agree...lots of virtual lube cleared up some messy playback! 👍😎

Windows by default is using only 60Hz. As far as I know you have to ***** Windows to use your monitor to its true potential.

Okay... WINDOWS! I ***** you to use my monitor to it's true potential...

Hmmm... I am not sure if anything happened lol (does a Google search)

Also I don't mean to sound argumentative I just don't understand certain things about pc's but I'm trying to learn so thank you for your patience! I do appreciate your comments! 😘🐱

@POPEYED
right click on screen (blank backdrop area)
click Display settings (on popup)
scroll down (right side) to Advanced Display Settings
Click on Display Adapter Properties for Display 1
now you can choose Monitor and change refresh rate (Hz) or you can select List All Modes on the adapter tab

some settings may not work and the software ususally times out after a 10 second trial test and reverts to the previous settings

good luck... hope this helps

@muttonjeff

Thanks but I did that already...I just think that maybe my explanation of my situation somehow ended up in some silly *****...I just didn't understand what @cdub87 meant by saying that windows wasn't using my monitors true potential when I currently had it set to 144Hz lol

Anyway point being is that 3K shows look better and play smoother (than 1080p shows) on my 1080p monitor! 👍😎❤️
