Life is a learning experience. Two forum members provided me the web link to the staticProperties XML file. It's wonderful. Lots of good data. Most important, it includes the model's birthdate or at least birth year in most cases and the card's release date. I need to do some testing to see if there are any anomalies, but now I will add birthdate as a model's attribute.

You are right! When I checked my data folder I found that a staticProperties.xml file was already present. Last downloaded Jan 28, 2019.

I have it, too. Also about 2,5Mb and it was created apparently on January 22nd, and last updated about 15 minutes prior to me searching for it (I've had iStripper running in the background).

Thanks I was only trying to help (and glad you found it).
I didn't wanted to give a link (or to say how to get the file) on the forum not to keep that secret for myself (I was sure some older members knew about that file) but to avoid people trying to spam istripper site to the file.

For the story I've made a standalone database (and still working on it and I'm not planing to share it), it's just because it easier for maintening my collection, I don't have to rely on iStripper site, nor @LukaszR (great site) anymore to do things I can't do with the GUI.
I've found the link to that file on the application's log, and since I'm curious I've searched where it could be locally.
That file make my day and helped me a lot with my database.

Now, @Wyldanimal told me (in private) that this file does not exist locally, I do not want to fight with anyone especially with some moderators that I respect. So I take it as is and do not want to talk about it anymore.

Thanks everyone with the help in identifying the value of the staticProperties.xml file and confirming that it is a normal part of the data folder. I've modified my Playlist Generator to store model birthdate and card release date and to allow sorting, and filtering on those fields.

Another data geek!!! Pleased to meet you. My Playlist Generator started out as a private database for my collection. Actually it started as an Apple Script to create an Excel spreadsheet for my collection. The current version is built on Microsoft Access and is available for public download. You might find it interesting. If you don't have Access, the download contains a text file of the VBA that I use to parse the models.lst file. See this thread for more information.

I designed my first database in 1972. It was on an IBM 360-75. There was no DBMS so it was all VSAM files with lots of foreign keys, but at that time I hadn't even heard of relational theory let alone seen a RDBMS. My first PC was a Radio Shack TRS 80. In 1985 I bought my first Mac and I've been a Mac bigot ever since. Unfortunately none of my consulting clients agree with me about the best platform.

The staticProperties.xml file exists in the "data" folder because versions 1.2.214 and 1.2.216 of iStripper software created such file instead of .cds file. I'm not sure, but I suppose it was a mistake on developer's part. Version 1.2.218 does not create xml file.

Rats! Well, I'll modify my logic to look for it if present. Better than nothing. If people care they can download it from Totem's web site.

On my PC, the .xml file was updated the 03 Feb 2019, the .cds today.

My First Database experience was with a then Unknown product called Vulcan.
It latter became known as Dbase when Ashton-tate took over.
It was later aquired by Borland...
I worked with Borland's dbase for many years.. But it wasn't a relational Database..



That was in the 1979 - 1980 era.

Along came Norton Commander
a side by Side Directory / file Manager for DOS, and one of it's Features was a Dbase Browser..
That was like Heaven back in the Day...
Being able to See the Dbase file with a click of the mouse...


After that I worked with Microsoft Access who remembers Access 1.0

Wow what a difference Rushmore made.
Microsoft took the Engine from it premier database FoxPro
and incorporated a version of it for Access Jet, more that quadrupling it speed, and it actually surpassed FoxPro as the Fastest Database engine.
Jet using Rusmore technology was born along with the ability to use SQL structured Queries.
You could create a visual query and then get the SQL equivalent.

By the way, Back in the day, we Database Geeks, called SQL, ESS QUE ELL
not SeQual like it is today.

And then The greatest addition... VBA, Visual Basic for Access
VBA in combination with Macro's Waa Hoo !

I got Goose Bumps on my arms just now, from thinking back to how excited I was with this new technology.

I support this idea. Maybe downloading the way like pics as zip file would result a faster download, however it takes some time to unzip them, but I don't mind.

Sounds like the moderators are contributors in the development process based on thread contributions above.....
Hope to see this and some other features added to the application.

1. rewind 10 sec Animation clip
2. Skip forward 10 Sec
(Rewind and skip feature helpful for those 4-6+ minute clips)
3. Skip song or choose a different song in play list while animation is playing.

I get the impression sometimes that some people may take the improvement conversations personally or that they have to jump to the defense of the status quo. I think we should be able to openly have these conversations and see where there is value in some of these ideas. Its obviously a great platform. We would all love to see it continue to prosper and get better. :)

@fitfan : the ideas of the members to improve the software or the website are a good thing, and Totem had made some new features from them. So, all the members can propose their ideas, if they are reasonable and can be done in an economical way by Totem.

No one should get caught up in a state over member's suggested improvements. We all have our own opinions and the right to voice them, with two things to bear in mind.
1. Any counter or negative comment MUST be politely said and if you cant to that then don't comment.
2. Do a bit of research before posting what you think is a new suggestion, because over the years, we have seen many of the same suggestions made and it is a bit frustrating to see suggestions repeatedly made when there has been no appetite to use them. A search of the forum while tedious can bring back a lot of information
