Statistics?
Ok, lets see. Have any idea how they do the raitings for T.V.? About a 1,000-10,000 electronic devices, depending on the large of the countries population, are placed in the same number of homes, distributed among different economic, racial and age segments, to monitoring the habits of people while watching the tube. To describe the whole process will be very boring, so, in resume, the preferences of 1,000-10,000 T.V. watchers determine what is popular, what series will have another season, how much the sponsors will be charged for advertising, etc. There are about 250,000,000 of T.V. watchers in the U.S., yet the preferences of a few thousands determines what people like.
More than 8 millions might have installed the software, but only a few thousands are actually customers. Of those, only a few hundreds voice their opinion, but considering the raw numbers, their opinion is statistically relevant, thus a valid sample of what people want to see or not in here.
